HAH!
And in the new Collymore stylee ------- I shall return BIGGER and BETTER!
Semi-seriously the point I was trying (and failing) to make is that it's not a case of "leaving" or "resigning". It's a case of "if you have something you want to say, then say it", and like many others I fear that undue levels of control, moderation and censorship will reduce the motivation for many to actually bother posting.
But this has nothing to do with ground gradings, so either a separate link (again) or leave it at that?

leave the level.. you miss the point How many will remain? the FA insisted on 22 clubs a Division at step 5 and now reduced it to 20 and with leagues like the Ridgeons having reserve teams in the Premier (which must be removed) where do these new teams come from?? Step 6 is already well below in terms of numbers and when the new conditions are imposed there will be even less!! so it aint goodbye then spencer bloke?? hehehhehehehe what no arguments? where will you go now for them?? will a disagreement be ok? No, I do take your point but what I'm saying is that some order may come from the chaos. The requirements that Step 5 & 6 clubs are currently facing brings them up to the same grading as Step 4. So lets say out of the 37(?) UCL clubs, only 15 decide to do the upgrade. At the end of the period, 22 clubs will be forced to drop to a Step 7 league. Maybe Step 4 wil be expanded again to accomodate the clubs who qualify? Or some of the Step 5 leagues consolidated into new competitions? It could be a general step up for those who choose to make the investment.

Spencer bloke, Step 4 divisions have 22 clubs however these are likely to be reduced in number to 20 if a northern division is introduced(meaning 6 divisions at this level) the result will mean more clubs sucked up from step 5.
the question of choice is an interesting one and really opens up the question of how clubs are financed at this level.... therefore the FA need to release more funds. Its not just a case of moving those clubs with ground grading qualification up to step 4. its all the extra costs involved in running a club ie travel expenses etc. Paying players more at that level as the demands for midweek travel long distances etc.. more coach trips than cars etc etc.
Thats if you can find the funding to do the development work in the first place!

[glow=red,2,300]Is that a dig at Cogenhoe... if not no offence taken....[/glow] Oddly enough, once I'd posted that message I did wonder if anyone from Cogenhoe would take offence, and to be honest, your decision to decline promotion was one of the instances that prompted my question. However, it wasn't a dig, it was a genuine pointer to a very big decision a club may have to make - maybe one we have to wrestle with if we have another good season? [glow=red,2,300]If our ground was upto scratch then we would of done exactly what woodford have done (try it at a higher level). its a firm beleif we have at Cogenhoe we know Adam can get a squad of players together who can cut it at the level above and we want to be the club who helps him get there!![/glow]

Yes, I'm pulled two ways on this too. Saturday afternoons in the UCL are a social event, would we lose that? Funnily enough the same dilemma came up when Tranmere Rovers started moving up the leagues. They were where we went to relax from Everton or Liverpool games. Nice friendly club, nice bar etc. Would that be lost?

I think that the answer to that question is a resounding YES.

It is the dream of all clubs at our level to win it.
Maybe not the way we did it!
Drawing 2-2 away at second placed Potton, 1st vrs 2nd for the tittle, it was a ding dong battle, one of which perhaps we were lucky come come out with a draw!! but it was a great feeling and the pictures of our celebrations will live long in the memory!!

Good thread this one, and has sparked some good responses. There are however two questions here; 1) Would you like to see your club win the title ? 2) Would you like promotion. ?
The answer to the first question is definitely YES, and most supporters want this. The whole point of competing in leagues is to pit your teams skills against others and try to win.
As regards promotion, look at Diamonds for your answer. Is that what you want for your club or are you happy the way it is. Promotion means meeting all the criteria mentioned by Kilnparkman, which in itself would be beyond most clubs for a sustainable length of time.
I love watching UCL for many reasons, reasonable cost, good football, players enjoying the game, usually some good hearted banter, no queuing, no crowd trouble. What more do you want.

P O Strathaway UCL Fan Yes, pretty good post this and it makes a good point. Of course it is natural for any fan to want his team win the league. I would like my team, Wellingborough Town, to win the league. However, I think we should look carefully at the implications of promotion to a higher level, enforced ground improvements and the accompanying costs etc. Yes, look at the Diamonds, tragic! Would I like to see Wellingborough Town go the same way? Not likely mate!!! "Come on my luverly jubberly Doughboys"

Does travelling make a difference to many fans?
I know it is a 448 mile round trip for me to go to a Weymouth home match which I do as often as I can, but the fact that most Yaxley away matches are within 30 miles motivates to get off my backside midweek for example.
