Can anyone report from any of the games so far ? Haven't managed to attend any myself. With all the rumours about teams this summer surely there is some news from games so far.

Played S&L away on Saturday and won 0-1. The only goal coming from Michael Coles. Had 2 goals dissallowed. So not a bad start. Al the new faces and last years squad have really settled down and got there shape pretty quickly.

I thought one of the disallowed goals was definitely offside (not that I had a great angle on it???) and the other must have been much closer. A good test for you playing against two fresh 11's in each half.

Sleaford have had 3 very tough friendlies so far, drawing with Lincoln Moorlands, Beating a Mansfield Town XI and losing 3-2 to a very strong Stamford side full of ex-professionals. More tough games to come including Lincoln City (tonight), Soham and Sheffield United to name but a few

St Ives played Wisbech at the weekend, only had 12 players due to weddings, injuries and holiday, but played well losing 3-2 to them. Then on Tues we went to Biggleswade utd, and had a lot of our '1st teamers' back and won nicely 4-1. So all looking ok, we have Ipswich Wanderers, March and Hillingdon Borough (FA Vase runners up in 2006) left to play.

Newport Pagnell have played a few so far. The first being away at Rugby Town the Swans winning there 1-0 and on the same day Newport Reserve loosing 3-2 away at Bugbrooke. Unfortunatly i missed both these games. The first home game (Thursday 19th July) was against Conference South side Cambridge City narrowly loosing that game 2-1. Newport putting up a good fight in the second half and could of won the game. Then Newport travelled away to Olney (a nightmare) where they played about 3 different teams during the game. I shouldnt take it away from Olney they played well and deserved the win. I was very impressed with one of there strikers, Fozzy i think they called him, he seemed to be everywhere. Oh yeah the score! Newport lost 5-2! Then the most recent game was on Tuesday 25th July where Newport lost 1-0 to Dunstable Town from the Southern League thanks to a last minute goal. Newport had most of the game and the better goal scoring chances than Dunstable. In the match report on the Dunstable website they admitted they couldnt get past the Newport defence until the final minute! The swans played well and deserved a win or draw so were unlucky! Next up is Metropolitan Police at home on Saturday 28th then MK Dons (Reserves weve now been told) Tuesday 31st July.

Newport Pagnell 1 - 0 Metropolitan PoliceA strange game this one. Almost the oppisite of the Dunstable game in the sense of Met Police had more control of the game, the better chances on goal and Newport managed a 1-0 win! The oppisite being a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Dunstable, a game Newport controlled and had the better chances! Met Police having various goal chances missing some sitters in front of goal. Maybe a good reason not to arm them with guns (Blame Swansong for that joke ;D ). This game was a combination of poor finishing and again excellent defending by Newport Pagnell clearing some good crosses from the Met Police. There was one a scary moment where the Met Police had about 5 chances in the space of 10 seconds where Newport managed to clear / block of the line twice, 2 saves from the goalkeeper and a point blank miss skying over the bar. Few! Plus there was an excellent penalty save by Joe Percell in the 2nd half from the Met Police. The goal came from a brilliant top class lob from Pete Rowe in the first half. Excellent stuff! Newport had a couple more good chances in the second half. But well done lads for hanging on until the final whistle for the win. A very good win against a brilliant side.

St Ives drew 2-2 with Ipswich Wanderers on Saturday, same old story really, played really well (had 20 odd decents chances incl penalty) but couldnt finish..last night went to March with about 14 players, some of which are ressys and won 3-2. We still havent managed to put out anywhere near a first team yet. Hopefully we will be able to field a near full strength side on Saturday against Hillingdon Borough!!!

The Marshall Cup
Newport Pagnell 0 - 1 MK Dons Reserves.
A good game where The Swans held there own and kept The Dons a bay until the last 5 minutes! Once again some excellent defending from Newport and some great chances on goal with one of the Newport players hitting underneath of the cross bar with a nice shot from out side the area. Unfortunatly i didnt catch who took the shot as i was too busy talking to a mate of mine. It took the Dons the last 5 minutes to get the only goal of the game which was very harsh on Newport Pagnell as they deserved more out the game. Richard Armstrong had a chance in the final minutes to equalize, in the six yard box but unfirtunatly was unable to put the ball into the back of the net.
An excellent preformace! It may of been against the MK Dons reseves but remember they are still a full time profesional side!!! Well done The Swans!

Just read this on Rothwell Towns Website...
Corinthians last night/Miller
Rothwell Town lost 4-2 at UCL side Rothwell Corinthians in the Pete Johnson Memorial Trophy, although the game ended early after Bones boss Ian Jackson took his side off on safety grounds as he felt the referee had lost control. Willie Straighton (2), Sam Jackson and Kevin Fox netted for the Corinthians, Corey Grant and Michael Tolton scored for the Bones.
Striker Ricky Miller has signed for Southern League Premier division Corby Town, where he will join up with former Rothwell strike partner Darren Lynch.

Burton Park Wanderers 1 Kettering Town 6
A highly entertaining game at Latimer park saw the full timers run out winners in front of around 200 fans.
Young striker Luke McIlroy netted for Burton early in the second half after Andy Greensmith had almost shocked the Poppies with a thumping header against the bar, Burton also had another header cleared off the line.
The Burton players did themselves proud against a virtually full strength Poppies side. All in all a great night for Burton on and off the pitch.
