Whilst thinking of the current plight of Desborough Town and the uncertainty of their immediate future, I was wondering how many current UCL Premier Division Clubs future may also be in jeopardy if they have not met the Ground Grading requirements by 31st March 2009? I have not visited all the grounds this season but of those I have it looks as though a number have considerable work to do. Whilst it seems some clubs have taken on board the recommendations of the ground inspection reports it appears some have not addressed the issues at all. Are these clubs hoping for another reprieve from the FA or are they prepared to accept relegation. It is possible this season that the team that wins the league title in May could be relegated to Division 1 and prevented from entering the FA Cup & Vase. There are two or three contenders for this fate. Any thoughts?

In answer to that, the deadline had already been relayed/postponed a few times already and the latest has been well published so if clubs haven’t complied by then they deserve all they get!
No sympathy I'm afraid, however, I do concede it’s a load FA bureaucratic nonsense, but if clubs are not going to improve their facility voluntarily then enforcement again is the club's own fault.
Too much money on players for very little gain and loyalty, where as the stadium remains year in year out.

Totally agree rosyjim. Players and managers come and go but the Club is always there. However my concern would be that those clubs who dont comply are only going to drag the rest down which may lead to the break up or downgrading of the league.
I dont get to see much of Div 1 games - how many clubs in Div1 have the facilities to meet the requirements?

I wouldn't thought that prem would be down graded considering its only a few that don't comply at the moment.
Perhaps members of the UCL committee could enlighten us to the numbers so far?

I think thats unlikely but I believe there are leagues around the country that have decided not to force their clubs to comply and are prepared to be dropped from step 5 to 6 come what may. Those clubs whose facilities are up to scratch will be accepted into the Vase and FA Cup and those whose facilities dont comply will not be.

Who in the top 6 of the prem now can go up to the southern league if they finish high enough and who will be applying for it Have heard that SL Corby cannot , although im not 100 % sure on that

For varying reasons, based on my visits only, not the UCL Ground Graders, five out of the top six will be relegated. Would think that Deeping Rangers are OK but the next five all have work to do, from a little to a lot but if it's good for one, or bad as the case may be, it's gotta be good for ALL.

Yeah have heard today that teams from the prem may go down cos of deadline / guideline , not sure how the new format would pan out ? Smaller league is the only real answer Think there will be a never ending postponement of the deadline

rumour has it that clubs with the standard from division one will be invited to join the premier division no matter where they finish in the league. i hear that a UCL inspector has been seen at a few division 1 clubs recently, which have no real chance of promotion. could be a split premier divison next season with two set of teams battling for top spot and a mid table spot.

Another FA u turn coming up?..... well tough financial circumstances may make that essential perhaps? It wouldn't surprise me, though clubs have had a few years already pre-current recession due to the grading being delayed a number of times.

I think it's a total mess and come April 1st a decision should be made on who stays, who goes and goes up! This would alleviate the age old problem of Pyramid football where decisions are still being made in July as to what clubs are playing where. If the League Management Committee are in receipt of the Grading Persons reports, where's the problem. The LMC must have discussed ther options as they are in posession of the facts. It would only be fair to the clubs and their supporters. However, I do agree with Pyromaniac that this F Grading hs been on the cards for a couple of years. Also, in defence of the MANY clubs that will fail, if you only get an average of 50 watching and 90% of those like to stand, why the need for all the seats etc.

Sorry, forgot, why not put a list out of Clubs that are in "danger". This may give Clubs a "kick up the backside" to try and sort themselves out and would also stop the never-ending speculation.

5 of the top 6 do not make the grade?
30 premier clubs and 40 div 1 next season it is then. this will mean extra cost to run a div 1 side, due to all the midweek league games. plenty will struggle.

Personally, I think it is rather pathetic if clubs haven't made the grade by now. Its seems to me as very poor management. I hope the FA doesn't u turn and that clubs pay the price for it. Furthermore, don't blame the credit crunch either, those clubs had plenty of time before all this happened, they opted to put players wages before the long term future of their club at this level. This all sound very familiar doesn't it? Paying out loads of money for short term or very little gain, sounds like a bunch of bankers? I wonder if there will be bonuses given out there nothing??
