In another thread, Haydn (I think) wrote "I have been told that the average crowd for last year was 320, and this year its 260", which I didn't believe so I checked.
Seeing as Mitoo have started publishing the attendance for most games, I did the arithmetic and came up with the following Average Home Gates for the season to date :
League Only Wellingborough Town 208.42 Northampton Spencer 79.09 Long Buckby 77.82 Desborough Town 77.00 Raunds Town 74.11 Cogenhoe United 60.10 S&L Corby 56.79 Ford Sports Daventry 33.17
All Competitions Wellingborough Town 206.85 Long Buckby 85.67 Northampton Spencer 85.07 Raunds Town 77.43 Desborough Town 74.17 Cogenhoe United 60.07 S&L Corby 56.79 Ford Sports Daventry 35.64

Cheers know it all, thats interesting. I also thought 260 was a little high for this season, but i think the 260 figure has included the people who get in free.

These figures are based on what the clubs report as the attendance. This HAS been a boring Saturday.

Good Stats and a good attempt at humour too!!!! Don't give up your day job!
Ford Sports not really pulling them in I see. and only 2 clubs with an average over 200. Shame clubs don't get locl supporters turning up. What is your club doing to improve attendances? Does anyone have any good ideas? I know the best thing is a cup run etc but there must be ways of attracting locals thru the gate.

If you have youth teams why don,t you arrange a 5 aside game before kick off, especially with the u9s,u10s. All the parents will come to watch and support their children, they might well contribute with drinks and food brought at the bar, and hopefully they will stop to watch the game. Also you can do a penalty shoot out at half time with a prize for the winner. A little incentive for the children.

Looking at them figures, I am amazed that Long Buckby average that many. I have played there many times during 90,s and sometimes after , and i would say they are lucky to get that many during the season never mind for one fixture.
I would also say that Fords figures are well of the truth. They must be lucky to average 20 a game.
I think the drop in mid week attendences can be put purely down to champions league football. It used to be that if for eg: cogenhoe were at home to Spencer in a mid week fixture in November, there would be over 200 or so there , nowadays lucky if there is 50. Where would you rather be? .. in a nice warm living room with a beer watching Barca v Chelsea or at a cold football ground watching ucl football?.

hello knowitall. What was WT2004 reported average gate last season? I thought it was in the 350 band?
If you have time do you fancy carrying out the same exercise for the 1st division and then overlaying it against the Prem. It would be interesting to see how the Div 1 clubs compare especially those looking for promotion. Thanks

Wellingborough averaged 327 in home league games and attracted an average of 173 on their travels, but that does include the reported 1150 at Whitworths.

Problem is in this league lots of clubs don't keep very good records of their attendance. How many times do you see an attendance of say 80 or 60, is someone just taking a guess?

I don't think many clubs to a specific head count, more likely someone will look around and count in blocks of roughly ten heads. I wonder how many overstate the figure to big themselves up, or how many understate it in anticipation of future tax inspections?

Sorry links above were wrong... now corrected WTFCs Crowds averaged 314 last season and 204 so far this season (270th on list) as mentioned before when attendance recording started on TKs site there were guesstimates I remember one club sending in a figure of 120 one game and 6 the next, i dont think they were both right ;D I've just realised that Sleafords average attendance is more than Cogenhoes (if correctly reported)
