After a fine battling win against Long Buckby, Steve Youngs reward was to be called into the board room with all his players and be sacked. New manager is ex Posh player Scott Houghton, with Jon taylor back as director of football. Football can be very callous at times, the following statement taken off the St Neots web site and is an extract from the Chairmans statement when taking over from Bob Page
"The chairman then stated that he had has complete confidence in the present football team management structure and players, who will continue to receive his full backing".

Amazing decision that. I thought he was going quite well with what he had. So what has happened at Arelsey for Taylor and Houghton to quit then?

taylor left arelsey a few months ago - dont know about houghton - yes i also thought young was doing a good job and had won the last 2 games to get them out of the relegation spots - must be a long term move - anyway good luck to the new team

He was well backed by his Chairman then. Does anyone know why he was not given more time?

I think its a totally new regime, and its their money and they want to spend it where they see fit. If they(new chairman & directors) couldn't have raised extra finance, then they may have stuck with youngy. But word is there's alot of money to spend, so maybe there will be a chill wind blowing through the present playing staff? who knows. I hope they stick with most of the younger ones, as they will come good with experience. Don't forget St Neots have a new £2.5 million ground next year. The plans are very immpressive with 3 stands and a footbridge to connect with the railway station, so they wont want to find themselves in div 1 next season. If you are going to have a stadium of this size, then you really need a team immpressive enough to play in it. I feel sorry for youngy, nice geezer, but to be fair his squad numbers have been a bit thin at times. Scott Houghton would I imagine being an ex pro know some good ex pros who will turn up for the money, so it will be interesting to see if its a new broom or if there is a merge between old and new. So Judge, that is the evidence as I see it, I wait for your summary

As a side note plans of the new ground are now pinned up in the boardroom, and should be appearing on the website in the near future. I'm not too sure about the '3 stands' bit going on memory though, however the new clubhouse stretches the length of the pitch approximately.

Pinned up in the boardroom !!!!!! does that mean they are for the committee only or can the supporters of the club wander in the boardroom to have a look

Sorry for being so behind the times but how have they managed to attract that much investment and what level of attendances are they expecting to attract and from where?

The 50k of people in the immediate area would be a good place to start.
Massive potential fanbase.

Hopefully the chairman won't mind me mentioning, but one reason due to the lack in investment by people previously was that many people (rightly or wrongly) associated the former chairman with 'dodgy dealings' hence wouldn't invest. With his departure he left the club with considerable debts, the precise amount is unknown.
With the aid of recording takings it appears that just in the past month our attendances have started increasing, and possibly the same with bar takings (we never knew how much was taken under the previous chairman). The new ground is being paid for by the developers whom are moving us in preparation for 1100+ house being built on the entire site. Hopefully St Neots will not end up moving to the new ground in a lower league than at present.
