John Terry should stay as Captain.
What he did was morally wrong and is within his non football world. Does it affect him when he crosses the white line as a footballer. NO!. The two issues shld be kept separate.
Will it affect his team mates as he crosses the line as skipper NO! because he is a great leader despite his morality issues.
If he loses the captaincy will he still be in the side. YES!..
Will it change him or his game or how his team mates view him. NO! So he's best being left to lead which is what he does best . He is the outstanding candidate.
The Others
Rooney. Playing too well to give him the extra responsibility and have it possibly affect his game. Also caught humping some scouse brass old enough to ne his grans baby sitter
Ferdinand. Been injured and not in his best form this season. Just done for violent conduct and more importantly a suspected drug cheat. I do know more about this than im willing to say on a forum. He is not an ideal candidate
Gerrard. Got a touch at Court with a LFC jury after smashing up a DJ in a bar with his mates. Not a good candidate. Not having a great season either
I think it will be more difficult if the press now make a with hunt of this... but im sure they hold material on lots of the England team and could go to press with revelations if they wish to. I do think the continual press pushing of this sunject will seruiously undermine our world cup if it continues.
Footnote... Harry Redknapp.. on radio and in press talking about how footballers should not be role models as there all at it. hasnt he just been charged with tax evasion which is technically Theft when he earns a fortune... laughable
Corby Ken.. dont disappoint me with silence.. plenty of ammo there for you

Missed out Lampard, he did have an affair but it wasn't his teammates bird. I agree that the candidates for captain are poor. For me, its time to do away with having a permanent England captain and you select the skipper from the 11. I love JT as a player but hes gotta go as skipper, its all about the dressing room and the level of respect a captain needs. There will be lads in that squad including Bridge that will not trust him as far as they could throw him. Signals coming out each day are though that he will keep the job. Capello quoted as saying today he will base his opinion on a pure footballing notion.... Even then though, i feel its correct for him to stand down. Lads in that dressing room without doubt will think hes a snake.. No matter what they say when they in 'Match Of The Day' mode

BPW
Lampard wld be my choice if he stood down but i totally disagree with you about the dressing room.
Why?.. cos there all shaggers and there all at it or probably have been at it and are all thinking poor JT there for the grace of god go i. Its a culture thing for these guys all earning £100kn a week thinking that they can get away with anything

Stevie G should have been England Captain from the start.
I heard Joe Cole got nicked doing 115 mph on the M1 last night. When the Police asked him why he was driving so fast his reply was.. I've just had a phone call that John Terry's car is parked in my driveway..
Just remember that most pro footballers cheat on their wag's. Well wouldn't you? what with all them fit as f**k bird's gagging for it.
I just don't get why Wayne Rooney paid some old Hag for a shag when he played at Everton!!!! As even the ugly pro player get fit bird's... just look at the freak Crouch...

Whether he resigns or gets the sack, I suppose JT should go to the World Cup. With no WAGS allowed at least his team mates will know where he is. (lol)

Gotta say i agree with most of the above. They are a sorry lot these players and monsters created within them from the money and adulation they receive.. Terry has become a monster within his own self importance, will this affect his captaincy skills in the future. Maybe this has been the crash back down to reality he needs. I watched Chelsea recently play v Fulham and Birmingham and i have to say that John Terry is a great player, even better than he looks on the telly. His touch, passing and awareness for a centre half is top notch as well as being brilliant at all the ugly stuff defenders are expected to do... I asked my 13 year old lad earlier should JT stay as captain. He has been reading the news and watching the telly and so has a rough idea of what had been going on... Whether or not he understands fully the bigger implications of being 'England Captain' or 'Having Affairs' nevertheless, in his opinion JT should carry on as skipper. I also asked him what his mates at school thought about it, to which he replied 'They think Wayne Bridge is nuts' So is the question, does anyone really give a nuts about Wayne Bridge's feelings or his ex Mrs

John Terry has done nothing wrong. In coaching manuals it states that if the full back leaves a hole, its the centre back's job to fill it

We have done it again,I thought we had a great chance of winning this world cup,but what do we do.Sack the best centre back in the world--the best and only true captain in the whole squad and a natural leader. Was this bird with Bridge when JT was giving her one-or two or more?? No.Did she do the rounds in the Chelsea camp.Yes. And we remove a giant like JT from the leadership three months before a world cup.Madness--bloody madness. Dont talk about morals--they will not be on the list of winners in years to come, and after this neither will England.-----Madness.

What suckers we all are!
This media driven frenzy
At the heart of this is a marriage breakdown and the lives of two small children and a wife and husband. What possible interest could anyone else have that matters a flying you know what to those people concerned and the pain they are going through..
Ah until the press get involved…. And with a bit of careful wording (most people read just the headline) give us all a perception which fuels it still more.
If anyone saw question time on Thursday and the comments of the editor of a leading news paper it was frightening! “The venom” with which she spewed out her right to make public the private lives of anyone and viciously attack John terry was simply chilling.
“Our business isn’t news it’s about selling papers!”
Seized upon by the press great timing.. Months before the world cup final… well takes you back to the late great Bobby Moore “ arrested for jewellery theft” anyone remember that?
Ah but John Terry is England captain! Could anyone explain what criminal offence he has committed and not paid the price already for? Ferdinand judged and paid his dues, Gerard brought before a court and outcome served.
What we all really think is they are human, make mistakes… until the press get involved…. And like sheep…..Bahhhhhhhh
Well me? As long has someone has not done anything illegal and paid the price like everyone else I don’t care if John Terry, Ferdinand, Rooney or the knitted character of Harry hill picks up the world cup. As long as at long last the name of England appears on the trophy and we do it in a way that makes us all proud..
BUT, one thing I am assured of the UK the press will do all it can to make it as uncomfortable as possible for Cappello, the FA and every one that wears the 3 lions . cos there will be a story in it and it will sell papers.
Shame on us all for reading such tripe.

Without a doubt the press and most people in the nation want England to lose !!!
BUT for me, this was always a dressing room issue. Bridge and other players no longer wanted JT as captain. As professional as they are meant to be and jobs they are told to get on with, it represents a problem for a manager.
