After seeing this weeks weather report it makes me think that anyone can do the same job as the Met Office by just sticking their head out the window.
Reports for pboro area at the beginning of the week: Rain and Cloud, with Friday patchy rain, Saturday dry with some wind.
WRONG!!!
RAIN! RAIN! RAIN! and more RAIN

Its a shame but we may as well pack up and go home and only have top level football The world has gone PC crazy and its bled into football. 15/20 years ago and before, games would never have been called off on a day like today. Theres a bit of surface water on a pitch now and the game is called off either by clubs that want to protect their pitch as if its Wembley or referees who do not want to be liable for a player having an accident Referees do not even begin games now and then abandon the game if it cuts up too bad... I remember playing in the UCL premier league and the ref would roll a ball across the pitch and if it rolled then the game was on... Now i realize the argument is not as one sided as that and there are different equations involved but without a shadow of a doubt games are called off too easy now, its as if people are not bothered enough to play.. I think the UCL will be a loser here as more and more people get fed up with plans being cancelled and knowing that a local Sunday morning game will normally always be on..... Might as well do that then This needs thinking about, what do people think ? Look at Wigan v Spurs last week, that was on Like Harry said... 'we used to play on them everyweek' Only 18 games called off today in the Northants Combination out of 44. This will see UCL teams that do not pay players wages lose players to this type of league or Sunday football.

Agree with you BPW - a real trend of teams calling games off far too early this season - I know it is always helpful to give as much notice as possible to stop travelling, but calling a game off for a frozen pitch at 10 in the morning when kick off is 3 is a strange one if the forecast is ok.
Calling games off for a waterlogged pitch is the same - unless there is loads of standing water stopping the ball from rolling then why not play?
And another thing - I remember watching a cracking FA Cup 5th round tie between Petereborough & Brighton a few years ago now when the pitch was covered in snow - when there is a couple of inches the snow protects the pitch to a certain extent - we live in elf & safety hell!!!
And another thing - them Chelsea fans why were they booing Wayne Bridge exactly?
