St Neots have the both to play, so I would say it is theirs to throw away

Bugbrooke put on a real performance on saturday. They were 1-0 down at half time and came out 5-1 winners. A little bit sloppy in the 1st half but blew St Neots away in the 2nd. They couldn't live with the pace and the passing. (Although the keeper did gift a goal or 2)

Maybe Bugbrooke have been playing in Reverse this season with the 1st team playing in the reserves and the Reserves playing in the 1st team? Might explain poor Div 1 performances.

Very tight at the top with Olney playing St Ives on Thursday. A win would put them top again with the last game of the season against title rivals St Neots on Saturday. Different results give too many different final standings to mention, but what is for sure is that Olney, St Neots and Bugbrooke can all still win the league and any of the 3 can still get promoted, just that only Olney, St Neots (and St Ives on Thursday) can influence the final table. Just hope that it will be decided by the reserve teams that have got these teams where they are. I say this as St Neots 1st team have now completed their fixture list and Olney 1st team are playing Daventry on Saturday. Good luck to all involved (Especially the Mighty O's)

Olney lost last night I gather. Thus I believe a win for St Neots on Saturday would see them top, whilst a draw would seem them remain second. So this Saturday will probably be a tough match with both sides wanting a win.

congratulations to St Neots, I hope you enjoy the step up next year. I do see though from the scorers on Mitoo that you could not resist the urge to put a few 1st teamers in to secure the victory! Oh well, better luck next year for us at East Street.

Oh well, better luck next year for us at East Street. Congrats to St Neots as well. Only a few 1st teamers??? The team had 8 different starting players to when Bugbrooke played them. May sound bitter, but how do the reserve players that have played all season feel about not being picked for this game???

knowing one of the players who was dropped he was initially cheesed off but understood ....however that upset was soon forgotten about once he realised he and his team would be playing at a better level next season and that he has played his part in that
i totally agree with what st neots done and i dont think for one minute that any other manager in that position would not have done the same ...... i know i would have

well lord byron, olney didn't do it. could have done and chose not to for the sake of those reserve players who had got the reserves where they were. I suppose you could say that St Neots first team are a higher grade and as such should have beaten our first team anyway, but the principle of the thing is why olney made the decision they did. You could say it is a little naive, and i think that has possibly been shown by the score on the day, but I am sure the reserve players, some of whom are quite young, would thanks their management team for giving them the chance to experience the occasion of playing in title decider, whilst 8 of the St Neots reserves have not had that opportunity.

Three players, including the goalkeeper and one of the centre halves were away at a stag weekend in Hamburg and another player, Joe Walsh, the blond haired left wing back who had scored 19 league goals this term, was away doing a charity walk across the Himalayas and doesnt return until the 19th of May. Here are four reasons why first team players were drafted in. When we played Thrapston on the Tuesday evening prior to the Olney match, they had 10 first team players on the team sheet. At the end of the day, our club runs like one big team, helping each other out if needed. On this day, we needed!!

abbotsleysaint...
I dont think thats fair to say Thrapston had 10 first teamers playing against st neots reserves??
With all due respect how would you know who was a first teamer and who wasn't?

Your right Cam he doesnt. Where you get ten first teamers from god only knows, that game in question we had ONE (Matty Harris). Just putting the record straight as we never flood the reserves with first team unless coming back from injury or long suspension as any other club does.

Whilst I don't know abbotsleysaint's source I can safely say that he would know who was in the Thrapston reserve lineup for that match, based on the team sheets. Whilst I wasn't at the match, I have heard the '10 first team players' mentioned by a couple of people.
Personally I think many teams for various reasons often allow first team players to play in their reserve teams. I've also known some occasions where reserve team players have played in the first team.
