Having had the misfortune to watch our reserves last night at Spencer, I had the even greater misfortune to be reunited with the infamous Spencer Linesman (didn't see him at Bourne earlier in the season due to my lad being in 1st team). None of the following is any excuse whatsoever for the result of last nights game, however, please, please, please can someone at Spencer do something about retiring him? Surely he is as embarrasing for you as he is infuriating to everyone else? I will personally send him the proverbial 'hook' to hang his flag on as long as he promises NEVER to wave it in anger again! In all seriousness though, I know it is difficult to get any linesmen at all, and even more so to get club linesmen, but surely there is someone in Northampton more suitable? I feel it may be detrimental to the team also, because the 1st thing everyone will say if they do go on to achieve success is 'what a surprise with him on the line' Am I alone in my thoughts? any comments spencerman?

I don't have any specific comments to put in writing on here, other than I can guarantee that he isn't cheating, so I'll leave you to think of an alternative explanation for the performance levels you believe he achieves........
UCLWatcher and I have had this very discussion before!

oh crikey.. I am in Buggalugs territory... as I don’t think we should have a go at individuals on here as you know...... however lets put it this way about this well intentioned club man..... he must love Spencer very much! perhaps too much!!!

Like I said - there IS another possible explanation for the quality of his decision making/observation etc.......
..... maybe if you watched him referee a game as well you may reach an alternative conclusion!

I think that the conclusions have already been made. ah well, its hard getting a club lino..... i think on balance most of the chaps that do it..... take more stick off their own club players than the opposition... so they must be doing a good and impartial job!!

I still maintain that he is NOT a cheat. There is an equally plausible reason......

i'm not really sure what your leading to buggalugs but there must be a difference between cheating and making it up because against cogenhoe reserves he just made decisions up...although not helped by a weak referee!! Dont need to go into the physics of it all but the player cannot have been offside! (I'm not bitter!)

Let's see..... somebody else might say something like "well, if he's definitely not cheating, he must be really, really bad at officiating" - or words to that effect.
But I certainly wouldn't say that myself. Not on here.
