I attended both matches and both teams played really well 1st team played at a good tempo and restricted the home side to long range efforts none really testing the keeper, whilst at the other end with a bit more composure we could have scored a few more with several 1 on 1 's being missed and Big Rich striking the post with just the keeper to beat.
The reserves played quite well seeing as there were a few new faces in the line up that and only 2 recognized defenders in the team, one of which had to come off at half time with an ankle injury, Newport took the lead after about 20 minutes but BSM came back strong and scored 2 well worked set pieces to lead 2-1 at half time. BSM started the 2nd half as they ended the first and scored a deserved 3rd goal from a long range effort after a very good passing move. Newport pulled one back after a very good run and cross shot from 16 year old Drew was turned into his own goal by a defender , but BSM held on to win and probably deservedly.

And here it is.................................. Despite loosing a good result against an excellent conference south side thats 3 division high than Newport Pagnell. First half Cambridge controlled with Newports keeper pulling of some excellent saves. Newport had some good chances themselves in the first half but it was Cambridge who went in at half time 2-0 up. The second half was the better half, with some very good sub changes, Newport as they had more control of the game. Vinnie Shrieves manged to scrabble the ball into the net to grab one goal back. Newport i thought could of had a couple more goals with some great build up play. Overall a very good result. Newport played extremelly well with some excellent attacking play causing cambridge some trouble and also some good defending against a top class non league side. And a side that just missed out on promotion themselves into the Conference, failing to join Cambridge Utd. Final Score Newport Pagnell 1 - 2 Cambridge City.Nice one!
