Taken from pnsfc.com: - Manager Tommy Cooper has almost completed his pre-season target of players by signing-on 3 players who have played all season in the Premier in 2007/08. 2 are midfielders and one is a utility player, though at present they all want to inform their previous club before their names can be released.
The holidaying Ryan Francis has confirmed that clubs from both the Ryman and Unibond league have been in touch with him, and it would appear that Ryan may be about to get a chance to play a fair bit higher than PNS. Therefore the club is in hot pursuit of a couple of forwards to cover this, both with a proven goalscoring pedigree at a higher level.

PNS have probably completed their pre-season player acquisition for the first team squad with the signing of 2 forwards yesterday, both regular players at a higher level and in their twenty's.
Names will be released when they have informed their 2007/08 clubs.
This is probably 2 players more than I had intended, as I wanted 2 plus a replacement for Ryan Francis, but it does mean that there will be some fierce competition for places next season, albeit that I have a wicked starting XI in my mind already!

tc , your normally fairly open and honest about budgets and i was wondering if what I've heard in the area is true . I realize talk always gets blown out of proportion regarding money , just the same as managers like to play it down !!!
Anyway talk is your trying to top what Hunts were paying last year and PNS the year b4 that , and that is many players on well over a ton a week ?

Just back from holiday, and yes Gazza it appears that the rumour mill is working overtime. My budget at PNS was going to be exactly the same as last year, until I read about Lutterworth. Harborough I knew about, but if there are 2 extra games that will take me just beyond that. Last season by the way I came in 2.4% over budget!
Only other scenario in which we will pay out more would be if we were to win the league which would naturally be gutting!
I was very open about the mistakes I made in the early stages of last season in terms of managing a team and a budget at this level and have restructured things considerably which is why I can afford to improve things a bit, but certainly not over the £100 level which would be madness at this level.

Mark Paul & Ian Edge have joined the club from Ely City. Both players started last season at Yaxley and it is from there that Lee Blewett, Scott Bogusz & Anthony Thomas have all joined.

Losing Anthony and Blewie is a blow for Yaxley, but I am sure they will get over it.

Gazza, it would not be appropriate to make our / my financial affairs a subject for public consumption or debate for obvious reasons, which I am sure you can understand.
My earlier comment still stands - we will now be operating from a 5% higher budget than last season because of the 2 extra games with Lutterworth, though if we win the league that number will be higher.
Unfortunately I expect that this will not be enough to satisfy some people and it is a real shame that the majority of comments around our signings concentrate on the financial aspect, rather than what they might do to us as a side and how they might change the shape of the team etc.
In our division, if you assume that 50% of the clubs pay some kind of money, then 50% are indeed trying to buy promotion / success with the amount being spent irrelevant - the principle is the same and I personally could not give a stuff what other clubs pay and good luck to them if they have resources available to allow them to do it.
If any of the other 50% are successful, then that is fantastic and fair play to them. I don't believe that I am skilled enough to achieve that in the Peterborough area because of the competition I face for good players.

Correct me if I am wrong but it was you who mentioned Mark Paul's salary in a thread last season?

Possibly James, though I don't memorise every post I make.
You will note that I don't think it is appropriate for me to discuss my / our finances and last season that would not have included Mr Paul - we can all specualte about other clubs which a lot of us do, but I must admit to knowing exactly how much Mark was on at Yaxley.
Have a lot of time for Clippo, who I think did a decent job last season at a club who I think have hit something of a plateau just for now.

Possibly James, though I don't memorise every post I make. Fair point, but you will concede there is a certain amount of irony there ;D As for Yaxley hitting a plateau, I agree. The facilities have to happen for the club to continue its progress. But I am sure that everyone at the club knows that and is working towards that.
