Like 1 or 2 others I took both of these games in last night and was quite impressed with what I saw.
Irchester really should have beaten ONC, who scored with their only real shot on goal. ONC seemed to have a couple missing from last seasons side and looked a bit short on firepower, but as always were really well organised and solid at the back, with Nathan Cook & Jason Gray outstanding. Irchester have a number of players who have playe higher and it showed, Nicky Young looked very dangerous in possession, and the whole team looked comfortable on the ball. Defo top half and with 2 or 3 additions could be a challenger. (PS - I was looking right across the edge of the area and foul near the end was 2 yards in the box so should have been a penalty not a free kick, but thought overall ref was pretty decent)
Thrapston were the most impressive of the 4 sides with a young enrgetic side who passed and moved really well. Game was certainly at a higher tempo than the first and in this game Thrapston had a good number of chances to win. Thrapston look like a top 4 side in the making and maybe even better if they get an older head or two in? - They will certainly cause everyone including us next week major problems. Gary told me that Sileby were missing a number of players and even had an outfield player in between the sticks. Having said that when Thrapston went 3-4-3 in search of a winner late on, it was Sileby who came closest to scoring on the break a couple of times.
With quality like Lewis Haycock out until Xmas, Sileby will have a tough job emulating last seasons 3rd place, and the increased competitiveness of the division will make it equally tough for ONC. Naturally I think it also makes retaining the title more difficult - I have seen half the sides in the division now and will be interesting to see how the likes of Kempston, Potton, Eynesbury, Whitworths and Rushden & Higham compare over the coming weeks.

I have to be careful what I say here as I am open to a hammering having lost the 1st 2 games of the season.
But I think it will be a very interesting season, and the tightest one I have been involved in so far. I dont think there will be a breakawy team like PNS last season and Dav Town the season before. I know PNS have done a great job with consistancy from last year but they have seen some big losses player wise and Tommy will be a big loss also. However their start is pretty good so they may still be the team to beat.
Passit I can see from the only 2 live threads here that you are very excited and fairplay to you you have been at the wrong end for long enough, not sure Darren would thank you for tipping him to win every game though, he has been around long enough (with pretty much the same squad) to know the highs and lows of UCL football.
I was surprised to see ON beat you looking at the UCL ins and outs this season I thought they might struggle, but that just goes to show how tight it may be and how wrong I was.
I think whoever does win this season will win with a lot less points than the previous two winners and I would not yet bet on anyone or against anyone yet for that matter.

passit is Darren young Tad. dont bite so easy. Irchester will be a better side for you being there. i 've seen Nicky play and he is a much better player then his dad is a manager. (dont bite Darren its a light hearted bit of banter). go about your job and only answer genuine questions. forget the wind up boys and enjoy your new post as irchester manager. p.s 7 days are in for nicky young.

Having watched Friday, still think Romans are a good bet for top 3 at least. Should have walloped Chenecks who got away with blue murder. Nicki Young quality wind up boy as were centre halfs. In better shape thah S&L who were a shambles Saturday and seem to be heading out of existence at this rate. Agree with Tad that PNS won't have it all way and will miss players and manager from last season. Will be close.

IRCHESTER WILL BE BOTTOM 5 FINISH, same as every other darren young team, world beaters till one player goes, then his mate follows then his mate follows and so on and so on, he can only bankroll these clubs out of his own pocket for so long, every player at irchester should be very interested what their teamates are being paid, because i know what is being offered to potentially new players and its far more than your getting paid !!!!!!!!!!!!!
