I would like to see or hear of the Potton United manager resigning or being sacked by the club. During the game Potton V BPW a flare up occurred between 2 players... run of the mill stuff...handbags In all my days involved in football at all levels i have never heard what was said from the Potton manager on the sidelines.. ******unproven allegation********* Disgusting and embarrassing, this man should not be anywhere near a football team. A report will go into the league with several witnesses in both camps having heard what was said... Thoughts please gentlemen ? **** I am not locking this thread, as healthy debate is what this forum is for, but do not make allegations likely to cause offence******

There is no place for it anywhere in the game, this isn't a 1970's sit com. The FA can only give him a dugout ban, but won't boot him out. I have many black/mixed race playing friend's who would just laugh in his face. It will come down to what the Referee heard. But his club should sack the fool.

If the league or the club don’t have the balls to get rid of this individual lets agree to bar him from all UCL grounds

Hey steady on old chap..... I am sure that everyone here supports the “say no to racism" campaign.
Just because you start a post and make such claims (no reason to doubt you though), judge and jury we are not!
Let’s wait and see the outcome of the written complaints which you say have been submitted.
But universally my opinion is any such raciest comments should carry suspensions for clubs, managers and players and should be high profile So county FA’s , League and clubs have a part to play. I believe a process is in place for that.
One shouldn’t also forget that comments like this may well also attract the interest from the law. So claiming in an open forum what you believe to have been said would also be part of that. So being careful about what you say about people might be good advice when talking specifically.
But hey support for the say no to racism campaign… definite supporter here.

Letter sent, so we will have to wait and see then. Potton committee members said themselves after the game he should be sacked so hopefully he has been. The manager involved knew he'd dropped a clanger as soon as it all kicked off and he admitted he was out of order, if only to save himself from getting a pasting !!!! Sorry or not sorry, it needs stamping out

Absolutely. Saying things in the heat of the battle is a reason but should never be an excuse.
I was at a match the other week where a fan shouted to a player "you run like a demented monkey mate"... the player was black and shot him a glance shouting "you calling me a monkey"...
Now I am sure there was no racial undertones to what was shouted and I think if the player had heard the whole sentance he might agree, but people should think before speaking.

Without doubt and that is exactly the point, now in this situation 48hours afterwards the Potton manager has apologized unreservedly for what he said ( and he did say it and he admits it so it is not an unproven allegation ) and i personally believe that the guy is sorry because he realized straight away he had dropped a bo**ok when faced with the reaction. He argues that the words Voodoo doll were taking out of context and he meant something else....and if such people who were offended by it were more educated people then they would realize it was not a racist comment... Bottom line- A young black player was called a Voodoo doll in the heat of an argument on a football pitch.... I suppose its up to people individually how you interpret that I know how i and many others did and i was disgusted. His defence and talk of taking out of context are very difficult to believe and even more so at the time when passions are running high. If you wanted to be extremely generous and forgiving, you could possibly say that perhaps, just perhaps the guy did not mean it how it came out. Having said that, that is then no way an excuse to use the reaction to what he said as a counter claim and make himself look like a victim. I think anyone who knows our young manager Scully would not be surprised to hear that he defended his player to the hilt and somewhere between the fracas that occurred the words ' you will get your face panned in' were heard. I believe that these words were most certainly not taking out of context and were said in a way that was intended !!!! The club has again written to Potton as they have some great people who work there and there is going to be some communication before anything is submitted further... Hopefully lessons have already been learned.

Isn't the player in question on the verge of signing for Potton?
And form what i've heard, Scully should face some sort of reprimand over his behaviour.

BPW well I ask to clarify that anyone reading this needs to understand that these are your personal opinions and not those of the club.
In two postings from you…… this….
save himself from getting a pasting !!!!
' you will get your face panned in'
Now call me old Mr cautious however I have long felt that no matter how right the cause there is always someone who will tell a mate who tells another and the original context is lost and it’s a certain person at club X is threatening club Y. = trouble the next time clubs meet!
And that is the danger of your kind of postings perhaps and that’s why I asked.
I would also say that procedures are in place for clubs to conduct business in confidence with the league and FA. To protect the interests of all parties involved and take action.
Not conducted in open forum to provoke a reaction. And when you don’t get many suddenly your claiming everyone is happy with what was reported as being said.

Here we go.... blah blah blah, lets forget all about the original true thing that was said on the day BOTTOM LINE- A young black player was called a voodoo doll and some members of the players team jumped to his defence in the way that lads do. Ok, lets make a big deal out of it now then. I know that young Scully is quite happy to take his wrap on the knuckles or whatever it may be as long as the original 'Voodoo doll' sledging is sorted as well... He does not care about himself in this situation. Debate, mick about as much as you like and try a poke holes in a load of bo**cks... At the end of the day a young black player was called a 'voodoo doll' in the heat of an argument while he was playing football on the pitch and the person who said it was not... The person that said it has admitted saying it and admitted he was out of order and that he is sorry and i believe that to be sincere... I hope so anyway.. However, cookie and others wish to talk about 'other things' that happened on the day that happen up and down the country on football pitches every weekend of the year... Gosh, this is so much more important than the original Voodoo doll statement.. Christ, and imagine reporting the truth on this forum and being upset at a lack of response... Blimey, that is a really really awful thing to do or feel... But hey, lets forget all about the 'Voodoo doll' and in fact lets not even mention those words again when we post because really deep down we would all like to think that it was not said or it was not meant.. Get a grip Cookie !!! Whatever has been said or reacted to in the aftermath is nothing compared to how that lad felt at the time and that is the main point of contention. I have spoken to the lad Scully today and he has said that the Potton manager got away very very lightly and is a lucky man to have got out of Potton that evening with his good looks still intact !!! Chew on that cookie my friend, what are YOU going to say now..... I imagine it will have nothing to do with the original incident Keep posting on this and i welcome others to join and debate but i will keep coming back and saying the same thing... BOTTOM LINE- A young black player was called a 'voodoo doll' Cookie, explain your interpretation of this please
