2 3 Buckingham Town v Northampton Sileby Rangers Good game to watch. Home keeper being in fine form and some woeful finishing from Sileby meant BT were always in the game. When BT went 2-1 up with 20min to go it looked like Sileby would rue the missed opportunities but good to see they had the character to get the win, although it took an excellent injury time save from the keeper to secure all 3pts

anyone watch the harborough game yesterday? wonder how they played in there first game in the ucl! here is a neutral report from a groundhoppers forum..... Harborough Town 0 Thrapston Town 0 United Counties League - Division One Admission: £3 (inc prog) / £1.50 for Bob Jnr Enjoyable day out, despite fact that neither side could hit a cows Idiot with a banjo. Met up with SteveR and JulieR in a pub in Kibworth, and enjoyed some decent food along with a a party of ramblers! The Bowdens Park ground is very tidy indeed, not much in the way of cover, and by God did we need it when the heavens opened!! Big car park, very good club house, and well looked after ground, but despite the monsoon like conditions at times, the pitch was superb throughout. A few hoppers were in attendance, I look forward to reading about the game in the NLP in the next few weeks!! As for the game, neither side had much up front, plenty of effort, but when they had a chance, it usually went straight to the keeper. The home side sub should have won the game in injury time, but missed a sitter, as my Dad would say 'I could have wafted it in with my cap!' Nice people at Harborough, very well organised, tidy set up, programme flattered to deceive, shiny, but empty!

and another................
Olney Town 3 - 4 Bourne Town UCL Div 1 Admission: donation box passed around Programme: None in evidence
I was here at the start of a new era for the Wakes. After 40+ continuous years in the UCL top flight, the Abbey Lawn has been deemed inadequate, and the club find themselves demoted to Div 1.
Not totally new territory for the club today though, nor for me, as Olney were Premier Division members in the late 70s, before they themselves became early victims of the ground graders in the 80s.
Granted, on my previous visits here there were no lights, seats or proper cover. Two of those have since been rectified, though there are still no seats. The was however a huge teepee sitting at the clubhouse end of the ground...
A covered standing area now sits astride the half way line - it would have been quite packed today if everyone there had used it, but luckily after an early downpour, the rain held off for the rest of the match. The team benches are attached to the front of the cover, which has only one entrance at the front, so to leave the cover during the match involves walking in front of one of the benches.
The game itself was very entertaining. Bourne took an early lead, and despite Olney having the better of the first half, stayed ahead 0-1 at the break.
The ref maybe had one eye on the weather, as he kicked off a few minutes early, blew for half time on exactly 45 mins, and had the second half underway by 5 to 4.
10 mins into the second half Bourne scored a second, and were in control. Olney pulled one back midway through the half, but Bourne extended their lead again with only 15 mins or so left.
Then with only 10 mins left, Olney hit twice to draw level, and looked capable of taking all the points. Luckily the ref added some injury time in the second half, and in that period a final chance fell to the Wakes to pull off the victory. Seven well taken goals made for an entertaining afternoon.

Sileby Fan, the report about trying to hit a cow's ar*e with a banjo was just about right. Although Thrapston pretty much dominated the first half and we had SEVERAL decent chances to go ahead, we just didn't score . Why??? well a mix of good keeping, bad misses and good defending, take your pick they were all there. The second half was more even and the excellent Harborough keeper made a couple more good saves to keep us out. Towards the later stages Harborough come in to the game very strongly and had a couple of good chances to take all the points themselves. Both sides guilty of glaring misses for sure. Still, it may turn out to be a decent point; Harborough could turn out to be a tough old nut to crack at their own ground.

I agree with Joe. Thrapston dominated first half creating some decent chances, but a bit of good furtune, last gasp defending and some good goalkeeping kept the scores level. First 20 x mins was like the alamo - i actually think we were nervous in our first game in the new league. 2nd half was more even and Thrapston still created a couple of chances, but the best 2 chances without doubt went to HTFC in the end as we missed a one on one (keper made himself big) and then we missed a glorious chance-keeper was stranded all we had to do was hit the target!! But in the end for our first game in the UCL we can take the positives from the result - Thrapston will no doubt be challenging this year and we will improve game by game.

I went to watch the game, and it had everything .. but goals, Huntingdon should have had a penalty and a man sent off for a hand ball on the line. Jamie Graham should have got a hat trick, and missed some good chances. But for all huntingdons pressure they didnt score, and R+H got a smash and grab win, sending off for R+H was harsh in my opinion. but was a good game to watch! R+H look improved, but i still back Huntingdon to bounce back and be up there at the end of the season.
Also got the rundown from a friend from the buckingham-sileby game, almost a similar outcome with sileby missing a hatful of chances, apariently sileby missed a sitter following a penalty save to win the game, but they kept going and won it at the death, both sides have made a couple of good new signings, sileby looking good on the ball, with bucks strikeforce improving (apariently!).

Can i ask what is expected of the Match Day Programme? As you know we are in our first season in the UCL so have produced a Programme what we think is of a decent standard but the grassroots hopper obviously didnt think so. I watched a Prem game tonight and they didnt even have a Programme....... What do you guys include in yours?

I wouldn't worry about grass root hopper to much you will find there is always someone wanting to put your club down, If it was only your program you have done well.
At Burton we tend to have a chairman's comment, managers comment,Teams, Referees and lino's, a bit about our club history and a bit about the away teams history league tables for all teams and a grid for results, we do a quiz which has been in there for about two years plus tuck shop prices then as much advertising as we can fit in plus a bit about next weeks home game. don't forget to have the league sponsors on it or you could cop a fine for that also.
At the end of the day if you think yours is fine then i am sure it will be these self appointed guardians of none league football are a bunch of bobble hat wearing numptys.
