It is nearly that time again when everyone start to summise who can go up and who can down from the Premier Divison on the basis of their current situation or proposed improvements. Are the guidelines being enforced this year or have they been changed and what was said at the end of last season regarding deadlines etc etc ? I have forgotten

It's out and it's full of controversy (maybe) ... and maybe more than 1 will go down !!!!!
If league positions stay about the same there are 4 clubs in the demotion zone due to not making the minmum standard in the order of going down and if they don't acheive grade F in 4 weeks:
Number 1 - Irchester (no suprises there really as the spend has been on the team and the not the club - they operate as 2 different things. Team moves on with manager, clubs fails and gets demoted).
Numbers 2, 3 and 4 - Spencer, S&L Corby (oh no not again after all the promises and undertakings of the club, the owners, the council, evry man in Corby etc. etc.) and Boston Town (place is a tip in my opinion anyway - and should never be a 4 sided ground)
So Rothwell live again. Don't know how - car parking is a total nightmare and dangerous. Yaxley escape because of their new build - just by the skin of their teeth I reckon. Any one else??

Boston Town i have been informed is work in progress, but i understand the concerns for Rothwell, much as we had a good afternoon there,if our full saturday away support had turned up they wouldn't have coped. Please note this is not a dig at the hard work put in by Rothwell workforce, but more the position of their ground.

Should be able to take Irchester off the list of clubs not up to Grade F, stand containing the extra seating we needed was put in place last week.

I thought Holbeach were in s*** again, due to the hardstanding not being on all 4 sides still?
I think the council have denied them permission to complete the perimeter.

Not sure what to make of this hard standing debacle. Desborough had a hard asphalt surface, which could if you were determined enough to chip away at it, create stone size lose bits.
Result - All had to be concreted in case these hard to get bits were used as missiles.
However certain grounds have car parks within the boundary where loose stones, nay gravel, is available regardless. Grounds should have been assessed by 1 person using the same rules for all.
If the 4 sides of Holbeach were ok for this season whats changed to mean they are not good enough for next?
Loz says that Irchester's extra seats have been done - Have they been inspected and approved and a removal from the demotion list promised? I'd get that letter first as nasty surprises often occur when tou think you've done everything!
So that leaves Boston perhaps?, Spencer?, and S&L (who have promised to deliver since before I was born). You can question Rothwell's parking (which creates a safety risk - but outside the ground confines) and no doubt lots of other examples of things at other grounds that just don't seem right.
But time is running out and it will be interesting to see who is involved in the drop, as we all know that finishing bottom nowadays means nothing.

Andy - Holbeach should be ok with just 3 sides, per FA website it says you only need 3 sides of hard standing done, with a width of 0.9 metres (Down from 1 metre?)
Didnt the council say the park was used for Cricket as well, in which case like Irchester who ground share with a cricket team you can get away with 2 and a half sides.
Gav - not sure when inspection is, as seats only went in last week. Like you say bound to be some other small thing we've forgotten

In fairness, every ground bar a couple, has something by which they fail to gain 100%. As Gav says, one person is the common denominator in ground assessments and is led by what the FA requirements request-not by the UCL,who are purely the monitoring and review agents . However, personally I don't understand why the assessment seeks disabled toilets, but not disabled parking. Considering the age of some grounds, why are asbestos surveys not required? With many clubs using their ground as a public facility including changing rooms, why isnt 5 yearly fixed electrical installation satisfactory certificates or PAT (particularly for dressing room radios,cd players etc) required?....and how many of the 3-sided grounds really do have solid grounding that is not broken or uneven? On the safety side, has any club failed to provide safe access, egress , facilities etc for the large contingents from St Neots, Kings Lynn and St Ives- if there were real safety concerns the games would not have been allowed to go ahead. Safety involves making risk 'as low as reasonably practicable' so do the gradings provide this or are they just another jobsworth measuring tool that actually means something? Overall though, good luck to all clubs involved and hopefully we'll know that for next season it is either bottom one or two swap with Div 1 top two!

Just offering my opinion for what it's worth Gav!...and hopefully acting as a catalyst to the ongoing ground grading issues. It is all positive though, just overcooking really in certain areas

So will the Bottom 2 actually get relegated this time? Ideas / views anyone. Looking very likely and with Spalding posssibly coming back the Prem could be up to 22 sides again. Bit harsh on Raunds Town if they do go, with " one or two" other Clubs still looking iffy with their facilities but let's wait and see. Things often happen higher up the Pyramid that affect the UCL so we'll probably not know for definite for a few weeks yet.
