"Martin McLeod has stepped down as manager of Desborough Town FC by mutual consent. The Club wishes to put on record their appreciation of his unceasing efforts and hard work on behalf of the Club during his time with them. We wish him every success in the future."

Looking back i might have been a bit unfair in my criticism of the manager but i think this is the right outcome.
Sadly things didn't work out which is why we find ourselves bottom of the table.
The club MUST appoint someone with experience as a manager at UCL Prem level or above.

could not have been left any longer. 1 win in 16 and the dreaded vote of confidence last week. New manager has 24 games to get another 30 points. Must target teams around the bottom - plenty of 6 pointers between now and end of season. Be interesting to see what new players are brought in.

Has McLeod's backroom staff left the club as well?
Also will a caretaker manager be appointed? noticed Thrapston have already appointed one.

Mine's no advice Reg- Based on the inevitability that if you had remained with the current setup, which has seen no noticeable improvement in results (and its points that count),you are relegated.
Having seen games for 30 plus years, been a mascot, been through seasons of missing no games, hiring minibuses to Vase games - texting/tweeting scores - You just want what was best. If for any reason I could see us not being relegated with the current manager then I'd have said nothing - but having put some time in over the years - I feel entitled to say that the right decision has eventually been made, mutual consent or not.
If i did not care about the club staying in the Prem, then i'd have happily gone along with the status quo - but i, like others do.
Anonymous - not me - you all know who i am and in fairness my views have been well known to you for some weeks.
Lets just hope it isn't too late to do something about it.

Reg, no advice from me either. That's just how it is. Agree with you Gav. Onwards, and hopefully upwards.

So Desboroughvp if any of the 5 mentioned were approached by the club do you think they would be interested,I have my doubts,I know the club has a small budget which will make it difficult for the board to appoint a top class manager.

With a couple of my suggestions i can see where you are coming from. But Rob Dunion worked wonders at Corby and Rothwell Town on near to nothing budgets and I’m sure Raunds didn't have any more money than we currently have when Nick Ashby managed there.

Reg - I used the proverbial "you" as in referring to all of us with a genuine interest in the success of the club. Do not fear as I know your in for the long haul, regardless of whether your a board member or not.
It would after all be a shame to have a revamped clubhouse to show off in Division 1.

As an outsider looking in i would suggest looking a little closer to home for a manager or temporary manager. Some of the older heads in the squad could be utilised i.e Kevin Byrne for starters. Been around for years with alot of experience and im sure alot of friends willing to help him out. Just a suggestion that could be used in the short term and if succsessfull maybe the longrun.

"Steve Walker has been appointed as caretaker manager of the Club until Christmas when a permanent appointment will be made. All applicants for the post will, of course, be considered at that time. Anyone interested in applying for the position should contact the Club Secretary in the interim."
