So I hear Roy Hodgeson is in there? He will be doomed by the fact he isn't the papers choice! Personally I think King Harry wouldn't live up to the hype placed around him and this poison chalice job! FA will be a brave lot not to pick the paper's choice this time, even though statistically they have picked best two last time regarding performances. But in this game no cups then you are crap!! I look forward to see how Team GB does rather then our over paid Euro Cup fairies!!

This has echoes of the seventies (and eighties) when the public choice was 'Cloughie'. A cerain Mr Croker, at the time, stated that he didn't care what the public thought!! We've hardly set the world alight since 1966 have we?
This is the same FA who placed Bishops Stortford in the Blue Square Conference North, 500+ miles round trip to Blyth Spartans, and now want to effectively destroy the UCL.
As you say, kps, the last two have been statistically successful, but we haven't WON anything other than the odd game. :-(

Well I hope Roy does well and bring out the true English bulldog grit of the English game, instead some of the chiwawas with diamond crusted collars dinxing about on the pitch we have seen over the years!

It seems an odd appointment after everyone assumed Redknapp would be a shoe-in.
Could he end up being the Brian Clough of this generation of Managers?

It makes me laugh people comparing Cloughie to Redknob. Cloughie brought home league titles & European Cups with a relatively small provincial club. By comparison Redknob has won 1 FA Cup final against a Chsmpionship Club. He financially ruined Portsmouth and West Ham (remember the Boogers signing) and has spent millions at Spurs for zero return in the trophy cabinet. Hodgson was by far and away the best candidate getting the best out of average players for years,a perfect qualification for England Manager

I chuckle along with you deepinghatter. Cloughie was by far the obvious choice at that time, but he wasn't popular within the 'baronial halls' of the FA. How much has the recent legal case involving 'Arry (he was cleared) had on the decision?
Like kps, I hope Roy does well in Poland/Ukraine. Which Englishman doesn't??

It makes me laugh people comparing Cloughie to Redknob. I was only making the comparison in so far as neither had been England Manager.
