It sounds good to me to... I will see if it is technically possible.
There has only been a couple of guest postings today but in one of the threads (you can look for it if you want!) three names have been used from the same IP address and that is not on.

Fair enough, but IP addresses are not unique, and geographical location can determine similarities

Keep it as it is. Many good discussion points have been brought up by non members, many of which have then eventually become members themselves.

Just a suggestion? Jimmy. Are you able to put something at the bottom of each Guest post, for example a message or comment saying ' why not become a member with a recognised ID, just click this link to join' With a link in place (or something along those lines)? I dont know if its a silly suggestion, just a thought and maybe a way of getting or encouraging people to join the UCL meassage board as a member? Please be honest with your comments and thoughts on this. I wasnt sure if it was a silly suggestion as i havent a clue on how to start a message board or run one??? I will get this sorted for you!

I am bumping this thread back to the top because the amount of drivel being posted by guest accounts at the moment is really getting on my nerves and making the site look badly managed.
I am literally a couple of offensive and daft posts away from going members only.

sad day but the posts have become worse. I am getting the feeling that its idiots or some people just trying to stir up trouble. Seems to have only been the last month or so. Perhaps its just that more people are finding out about UCL chatter and its attracted those who simply dont understand where this will lead if they dont moderate themselves! These personal attacks and negative postings are seen by some as legitimate points!!! which is even more scary!!

The ECL Message board threatened to close last week and I believe the Administrator is still in two minds. I have always beleived that it should be members only, although I do understand the work aspect and the casual aspects of logging on. but hopefully it would deter the random posters who mostly (not all) type drivel and personal abuse, also it would cut down on the robotic/idiotic messages that are left on the forum. Perhaps increase the threads in the Members only section, and encourage members, if they wish to raise a topic and have a sensible debate to use it. if people want to contribute to a topic they will take the time to register I know just like burglars, if people want to post abuse, they will. the ECL notice board is/was members only

Thanks to the stream of topics posted in UCL1 criticising the site and me from a single IP address I have had to ban it.
so J, please take your views elsewhere, you are not welcome.

please jimmy make the site all members - i for one would join but now i feel i cant as one person has got it in for huntingdon town in a big way and it makes our club look very bad on this forum so now i can answer back in a manner that they answer but this is not helping the huntingdon town cause
maybe we could make just the huntingdon town area just members and have talks about huntingdon town in a sensible manner not personal all the time
please let me have your thoughts

why doesnt Huntingdon start its own board via its web site as clearly we do not need to know of "in house" disputes at clubs.

Increase the benefits to members... and can you put a block on the same guest posting (from the same computer) more than once every 15 mins? That will drastically cut the drivel, and allow non members to bring up a valid points, and encourage regulars to become members!

I think/suspect what you can do using a free hosted board is probably fairly limited in terms of what forum software can do. Incidentally at risk of thread hi-jacking I'll soon be switching St Neots Town F.C.'s forum software from Ikonboard to IkonForums www.ikonforums.com.
