Is it actually working for anyone? Is it set up properly so that anyone can send an update to 86444 and everyone following gets the update on their phone?

It appears that to be at all effective, each club will need at least one person to register a Twitter account related to the club. Then that person or persons can make updates (tweets) to their account by texting to 86444, and anyone following that account will receive the updates - on their mobile if they have devices switched on.
So the chances of getting every club to actually do this are minimal at best.
Great idea - just won't happen

Desborokev your tweet came up on the htucl rss feed so if you add the rss feed to your browser, you will be able to see tweets in real time

Glad it worked even though the result this afternoon didn't go our way! Next time...With everyone using it it could be really interesting particularly towards the end of the season. Thanks to ianh for setting it up.

To be honest the RSS feed is of less interest than text updates.
Most people will be interested in getting score updates from other games while they are at a game themselves, or for some reason unable to be at a game.
RSS kind of expects you to be logged on to a computer to see it. Yes of course you can have web-enabled devices, but the text updates are the key item.
Or is there RSS to SMS these days?

Perhaps we need some clear, step-by-step points for people to get set up, then maybe more people will do it. The more people do it, the more live score updates there will be floating about. So here goes ...... 1. Set yourself up with a Twitter Account2. Maybe put some description that might indicate which club or clubs you will be sending scores on. 3. Go to Devices and set your mobile up to send and receive "Tweets" (if your air time provider allows it) 4. Go to the #htucl Twitter account, click "Follow", and see who else is following that one, and click "Follow" all the ones you might want to get scores from 5. Make sure you click the button which says "Updates are sent by SMS to your mobile phone" (as long as your air time provider allows it) so you get the scores and messages by text 6. Now you should be in a position where a. You get a text from anyone you are following when they sent a score update b. You are able to send score updates by text to 86444 and anyone following you will get the texts Simples........

Just had my first look on the news feed, what a top idea. I think most people are fed up of waiting for Mitoo to be updated at about 7pm on a Saturday. Cheers for the tweets guys.

So I needed to put #htucl in the message to make my "tweets" copy to the htucl Twitter account?

All over it. Cant tweet whilst playing, but will update as soon as we finish regularly. The other, easier way of getting your tweets updated is to download uber twitter or similar for your iphone/blackberry and get all updates from that. It's free and no need to spend money on SMS.
