It's not gone down too well..................I have no idea of the cost and the inconvenience to both sets of players - you cant blame a referee for turning up when requested and having to call it off. However, it baffles me (and I am sure all the PNS and BSMFC players, supporters and staff) that the forecasted weather didn't strike a chord in the groundsman to probably check the pitch at 5pm before everyone set off for the journey......

We incurred the cost of a coach which I suspect BSM did as well. I have previous experience of County finals being called off at late notice and not sure clubs are that keen to have games played on pitches that are a bit wet.
I have never understood why so many County finals are scheduled for Raunds in the first place - there are numerous better grounds and particularly pitches across the County.
If it is location (i.e. fairly central) then I am sure we would rather travel 20 miles further to play at a better venue?

The question of venue was raised on another thread, and I think it's down to the cost to hire the pitch, stewards etc. 'Diamonds', Kettering and Northampton charge (I believe at least a three figure sum for these.

interesting to see Raunds played at home lastnight!!!!!! atleast the money they spent on printing flyers for their massive local derby with Wellingborough Town didnt go to waste well apart from the result.
The flyers were interesting reading for the PNS Res players who were still sociable and stayed for a few beers in the Raunds Clubhouse even though the game got called off!!!!!

TC & Brettonian you are to nice - Lets put the record straight, it was another balls up by the incompetent, over aged, out of touch Northants FA!
The committee did not do it's job properly in assessing the situation and checking the facilities were playable before the teams were due to leave! I unfortunately heard one say it had not rained in Raunds for 5 hours yet it rained everywhere else all day - must be the centre of the universe in that part of the world!!
What really annoyed both parties was the complete disdain and lack of respect the committee showed in the cancelling of the match. They were laughing and joking and seemed it a trivial matter that players, managers and officials had taken time off work, made alternative arrangements and spent hundreds of pounds to be told 1 hour before kick off that it was not playable due to the pitch it looking like a swamp !
Let's be clear, the calling off was the right decision and I hope the (but do not hold my breathe) that the FA do the honourable thing and reimburse the club for their expenditure for the journey, although some players will not be that lucky!
Come on Northants, to long you have been the laughing stock - Do something Right!
