Just a thread out of curiosity really... A Southern League manager with experience in the UCL recently told me that the problem with the area with which we live in was that there were not enough good quality players to go round the UCL because there were too many teams in our area fighting for the same signatures. Hard to say exactly or define teams into areas but i would say that i lived in the Corby, Kettering and Wboro surrounding areas and possibly at a push, Northampton as well I'll stick to the first three to keep it fairly simple. Off the top of my head i can think of these teams that compete from these areas approx in the UCL: S and L, Dboro, Corinths, Rothwell, BPW, Whitworths, Irchester, Raunds, Wboro, Rushden & Higham and Thrapston... That's not including Northampton teams such as: Sileby, Chenecks, Spencer, Bugbrooke. I may have missed one or two but what i am asking is this.. 1- Is this a lot of teams compared to other areas competing in the UCL, examples please ? 2- Do you think this is an dis-advantage, advantage or does it not really matter if you have many teams from your area competing within same leagues ? These are open ended questions..

Good thread I partially agree with The Special One; IMO: 1) Selling the club and it's ambition is key 2) The managers player contacts and network is imperative 3) I really dont believe money is massively important at this level, but it does help if you have some. Trophies or £XX a week??? 4) Managers track record helps, experience, proven success, etc 5) Facilities and coaching set up is always good 6) Location also is another good one for choosing a club I think there are enough good (some very good) players around Kett, W'boro, Corby & Northampton to support the UCL teams we have, but I will agree that it's getting fewer. I think thats more due to the 'Nanny State/Playstation/Facebook' society we now live in. Just my opinion ;D

But what about other areas?
Can they boast to having as many teams competing in the UCL ?
Lincolnshire, i would think has a lot of representation?
