Great shame twice Premier Division Champions, well run friendly club. Well done to all of boys there for everything you have done for football and the town of Daventry, you will be sorely missed by the football family.
We understand their difficulties over the past few seasons, just hope the heavy uncompassionate hand of the authorities haven't influenced the descision.

Just a note to put everyone in the picture , yes it is true that unfortunately Dav Utd will be folding as of the end of this season . From a personal point of view I had a offer of Daventry Town assistant manager and i felt it was to good an opertunity to turn down , Neil Champs will be joining the club also and we both feel it will be a great experience and also to take the step up a level is no different to any player wanting to try it out . Of course it was a very hard decision in the end as i knew deep down it would be the end of the club as for the last few years the club has been run by 4 people and they all my family , it is time they took a step back and enjoyed the football side of it and not have the constant hassel that comes with running a club at this level (not that they will) . One of the main reasons behind it all is the fact that the league has become so much more competative and i feel the standard has improved this season massively (hope someone from the FA ARE READING THIS ) and i just felt that we was falling even further behind . Better teams with better expences and we just do not have the accomadation to be able to generate income . Moving to Daventry town with the ground share has given us the last two seasons and we are all truly greatfull for that but they do have there own club to think about . After 22 years as a player / manager in the UCL i have made a large amount of friends and as Rail posted the football family , it couldnt be described any better , probably also made a few enemies along the way but hope not to many (REFS) LOL . All i can do is thank you all and hope the FA leave you alone to continue as well you should be , we will be enjoying our last 6 games and hope to continue our little run of form ( Kings Lynn watch out ) ha ha . From all at Dav UTD , me Fozzy and the whole of the Foster family THANK YOU for our many enjoyable years .

Very best of luck for the remainder of this season, and your new venture next season...

Firstly the best of luck to everyone involved at Daventry United in whatever they do in the future. It is always a shame to see any football club go out of existence especially one that has been members of the United Counties League for many, many years.
Secondly can anyone confirm whether or not the team who finish 20th this season will gain a reprieve following Daventry's decision to quit ?
Once again best of luck to everyone at Daventry United in the future

Endorse eynesburylad and desboroughvp comments. All the best to Fozzy and family. A change IS as good as a rest.
As to the decision on 20th place finish, the decision will probably made at the next League Management Committee meeting.

Out of interest Fozwaldo I don't suppose you know when the next league management committee meeting is? It's just that us, Thrapston and Irchester will no doubt like to know whether two of us will go down this season or just one.

I'm guessing it wont be clear until after the management meeting however it's not just about Thrapston,Desborough and Irchester- it's also about Huntingdon and Harborough - whom I'm assuming have spent the last few months in the belief they'll be promoted. Anyway, that's to be found out in future- one thing we all now know is that unfortunately Daventry United won't be in our family next season and we wish Foz and family well for the future and must thank them for their UCL service and that's what we should all reflect upon at this time as there may be others out there who are taking 'the proposal' as set in stone and are poised to react ahead of any restructure.

Always sad to learn that a club has had enough ... too few people realise just how much it takes to run a club at this level. Foz, thank you and the family for the opportunity of knowing you all. I'm sure we'll see you around the circuit sometime. Good Luck!

Sad to see anybody go, had some good days at the "old Ford Sports" Club over the years. Hate to be a bit doom and gloom but with all that is going on around the UCL at the minute I was wondering if anybody else's Club was looking a little despondent at the minute. I know ours is, off the field, as it just seems to be one thing after another. As all the posters above say, it really is very, very hard work running a Club at this level and we need all the help we can get from the authorities but do we get enough of it? ?/

Not nice to hear, I understand Wootton BC will also be pulling out of the UCL, they were a good UCL Prem team aswell.

Kevb I fully understand where your coming from. Its desperatley hard and the League arenot doing anything to help especially in cutting down unnecessary officials travelling expenses to which i have heard they will be increased next season again. I can say we have looked at alternatives for next season but we have secured a very good sponsorship for next season and hopefully beyond so it looks like we may stay in UCL and await the outcome of the FA reviews. We are lucky to have a dedicated band of committee workers and volunteers here but with what goes on it makes you wonder whether its all worth while. It is hard work i agree but we akk have the love of the club at heart. Good luck to all connected with Daventry and Wootton and its a shame to see them go although we only play Wootton,

Always a shame when a team ceases to exist, but no doubt they will still be up for the game this afternoon.Looks like the fa has done away with the UCL without trying.
