Didn't really get to see much of banks . I saw the clip of the save v Pele and a few others bits but not much unfortunately Was never a huge Shilton fan but he won plenty of caps and admirers . Schemical i think is in the top 10 As could be Arcanada and Casillas What about the top 10 keepers ever Defo not this 1 Rough 2 McKnight 3 James 4 Carson 5 Beasant 6 Taibi 7 Gomez 8 Ben Foster 9 Ian Andrews 10 Roy Carroll

I may be too old for this forum!!!
Gordon Banks the legend.... played behind not exactly the best back four (in all honesty they probably played 2 - 3 -5 no subs) anyway back to the list... Banksy has to be Number one... but what about Russian legend Lev Yashin? Any way was all black & white then.
Shilton and Southall in Technicolor are good shouts as they both were busy keepers!

I'm gonna bring this thread into the present day era and nominate Shay Given. How many wonder saves has he pulled off in the last 12 years (this season alone I can think of quite a few!!) and he has had numerous MOM awards. Bear in mind he played in a Newcastle team that was always focused on attack and not defensive minded and had some of the worst defenders in the premiership (Jean Allan Boumsong, Titas Bramble, Warren Barton, Phillipe Albert, Alessandro Pistone etc. I think only behind Schmiecal (if spelled wrong, don't care cos he's a manc) in the all time great premiership goalies.

Pains me to say as a manx hater but Schmeichal takes some beating.
Great stature, imposing, great shot stopper, safe hands, and ultimatley his quick distribution noteably from hand was fantastic
