Watching the Help for Hero,s game and was disgusted at Gazza's dive ;D. funny as fcuk Gazza all over and forever the clown prince of football and still enjoying his stuff. I did think it was more convincing then Ngog's dive. Shame it was not in the area as England are 3-1 down.
What should the FA and FIFA do with these real cheats? Fines are a waste of time. 6 match ban maybe?

Ref enforces substitution and player is off immediately which would be interesting if all subs already used or award penalty to other team, that would stop them diving.

I'm assuming that ref has seen dive, if not it will have to be a retrospective punishment which is too late cos they've already got the penalty, got the 3 points and are on way home celebrating while the real winners are left to wonder how the ref can give a penalty for that blatant dive

If ref missed it and game is won 1-0. deduct the gained 2 points Ban the player for 3 games. Fine the club. In any other sport if your caught cheating you get stripped of the title or win, right? So why not enforce this to football?

all very well but at non-league level there isn't the luxury of video replays from every angle possible. So when the ref gets it wrong and you lose the game and points deducted and player suspended and are fined ... I can hear the baying for blood already - get real fellas! Think about rules and punishments that fit everyone who plays - it could be any club down to junior football affected. With that sort of pressure on a ref, isn't he even less likely to do anything? Sure, playing illegible players, fighting on the pitch, obvious breaches of the rules should have points deductions etc because you can plainly see them. A referee's sole opinion in this explosive atmoshphere with such dire consequences - very very dangerous. The FA have made it clear that you can't even appeal against a booking unless you have video eveidence - what chance is there with a wrong decision with diving?

As this is in 'everything else' thread it my views outside the UCL right? which by pointing to Ngog and Gazza's play acting is aimed at the professional game Honestref. read the thread before telling us to get real eh?

The problem with this one is who defines what cheating is, and how does the ref decide? Feigning injury? Lying to the ref about what is supposed to happen behind is back? It becomes a minefield. Having said that it's difficult to stomach, when it goes against you.

Surely the 'cheats' in this latest controversy are none other than FIFA!! Only six weeks or so ago there was a real chance that France, Germany and Portugal (plus Argentina) were unlikely to qualify for 2010, ie massive loss of revenue from TV etc. FIFA suddenly decided to 'seed' these nations and, surprise surprise they've all qualified. Who ever said 'cheats never prosper. As for TH, had he admitted to the hand ball he would have been pilloried by his French compatriots. Ah football!!!
