I'm looking forward to it, 13 months without Saturday football is a long time. I think this also sees the creation of the 'Rushden Derby'

I'm sure the vast majority of AFC R&D members/fans are delighted just to have a Saturday side to support again and are very happy to have been placed in Division One, I know I am. The UCL got it badly wrong by placing Kings Lynn Town in the Premier and I don't think they'll make a mistake like that again. Division One has some great little set-ups ( I guess I saw about 15 games in it during the season just finished) and I'm sure 2012-13 is going to be exciting, I can't wait for August

As an AFC R&D follower I also think it is the correct decision to place our new club Division I.

It should be noted that the FA make the decesion which division to place clubs not the leagues. So in this case the FA decided that Step 6 (Div 1) was the correct level not the UCL

Quite right ruushden. Look at Wellingborough Town when re-formed as '2004'. Placed in Division One and promoted at the first attempt, and won the Les Underwood Junior Cup. Roll on August!!!

Good, good, good look forward to the gate. Welcome abroad AFC. That's very kind of you to say we can have your gate but we'll have nowhere to store it yet Notice no bellyaching from our fans on here about where we've been placed, happy to have Saturday footy back. (By the way, we're gonna p!ss this TINPOT league ;D )

It should be noted that the FA make the decision which division to place clubs not the leagues. as they also did with Kings Lynn Weren't they put in the UCL1 but won their appeal so put in the Prem ? If so, considering their finishing places I'd say that it was probably the correct decision. It's no good putting a club into a league where there's not going to be any competition. Considering our membership totals and "pull" we're going to be seen as the big club in UCL1.

I assume the R&D derby will actually be against next door neighbours Whitworth !

I assume the R&D derby will actually be against next door neighbours Whitworth ! Since the old club played league matches at Plymouth, Dover, Hartlepool, Carlisle and eveywhere in between, they are all derbies now

I assume the R&D derby will actually be against next door neighbours Whitworth ! I should imagine so. When possible Christmas/New Year's Day fixtures were recently discussed on our forum it was pointed out that a match between Wellingborough and Whitworths back in 2005(?) attracted a gate around the 1000 mark and it would be great if that figure could be matched when AFC play Whitworths if, of course, the match takes place over a holiday period.

Surely being a Rushden and Irthlingborough club it will be against Rushden and Higham. After all, the club's location changes yearly.
