[glow=red,2,300]Just a quick message for Adam Sandy & his SuperCooks side!
We face managerless Rushden & Diamonds tonight in the Hillier Senior Cup, and i fancy an upset... the games at Rushden, but not in their main Nene Park Stadium but instead on their Pitch 2!!
The excuse ive heard is, that they cant afford to open the ground up..... Which makes me beg the question, Why did they enter the competition in the firstplace.
Such a shame for our lads who were looking forward to playing infront of their family & friends in their Nene Park Stadium..
All the more reason to do them over!!!!
Come on you Cooks! [/glow]

Cooks lost 2-1 to a strong Diamonds team... all battling for places under new cartaker boss.
UCL well represented by the boys in blue.... back to league action Saturday!

Well. if you had come along you would have seen a brillant game. not many shots but some good defending and midfield work by both sides. 0-0 at Full time and Fords scored first in extra time. Diamonds got one back with a deflected own goal and striker burst through to score a second just before the end of the first period. Fords then set about getting the equaliser and should have had 1 if not 2 penalties in the last ten mins. Lads played well and Diamonds came off feeling they had been in a game.

I went to see Ford Sports v R&D. I disagree about it being "a brilliant game" Motorman. Personally, I thought it was very scrappy but given the difference in League status, between the teams, fairly entertaining. Fords battled well but left massive gaps at times, particularly out wide, which R&D exposed. If their players could've hit the target, this would've been over well before extra time. Their shooting was woeful, much to the delight of the crowd. In particular, those by the home dug-out. Clacky scored a fine opener in extra time but the lead didn't last long, as an own goal levelled it. You could feel the relief from the R&D bench when it went in. The winner was a great shot from well outside the area, that the keeper did well to get his fingers too. No chance of keeping it out though. As the R&D supporters said, if only he could do that on a Saturday! I hope Fords can transfer this passion and workrate to the league because they desperately need the points. Good luck to your team for the rest of the season, Motorman.

Thanks for your message of support FDD. The reason that we were 'exposed' out wide is that we did not play the normal 4-4-2. Played with the 4 as a diamond with 2 wide men moved in slightly and one advanced behind the strikers. Tony Godden said afterwards that 5 of the R & D side at least would be starting the following saturday for the first team.

Five 1st teamers eh? I can see why they are struggling at the moment then. Shame the Ford boys couldn't hang on for the win, would've been such a confidence booster for them. Like I said before, I hope they can move on from here, get some points and start climbing the league table. Always enjoyed going to Daventry FS and knowing the Crocketts and Blob fairly well, I wish you all the best.
