or like Blisworth the money goes Sorry mate, must correct you on this, it wasn't the money that ran out it was the desire and ambition of the commitee that ceased.

Is that a challenge? Thrapston it is then. It was a midweek Friendly and coming into November it is a whole new ball game regarding both fitness and confidence for both team so it would be interesting. Maybe to help we beat Moulton 2-0 just 2 weeks ago so we have come along way and like Moulton we have some very good former UCL players. If it is not this round then maybe later!! ( however these words could come back to haunt me) As for the Floodlights that has killed that dead!! Our pitch is surronded by houses so we are unable to put any up. Can I ask as I do look at all the DIV1 games how many midweek games are there as I don't remember seeing any since Septemeber for DIV 1?? why so critical floodlights needed. Anyone that has been to Roade or Moulton to name a few will know the facilities are good enough for UCL DIV 1. Lets to be honest you need a pitch goals and changing rooms for 2 hrs on a Saturday afternoon. The Queen is unlikely to visit. PLEASE NOTE A AM NOT KNOCKING THE UCL ETC THIS IS JUST A INTERESTING TOPIC. Roadefc, I take your point about a friendly being completely different from a Junior Cup game. It would be a very good game if we were drawn together but as the UCL side we should shade it??? I think your absolutely right about the floodlight thing. We've played only 3 games this season under our new lights and 2 were Friday nights to avoid the England game on the Sat. It is kind of pointless if your not playing regular midweek games!!

But you need floodlights for the Winter on Saturdays to avoid kicking off just after dinner. You need floodlights to progress up the pyramid, where do you draw the line. Haverhill Rovers are step 6 and have drawn Aldershot Town in the FA Cup, a midweek replay or a 3 pm kick off would not be an option. County Cup games are usually played midweek if you have lights. We have 16 teams in Division One, how long ago did we need midweek league fixtures (last season, I beleive). Other step 6 leagues have 20/22 teams, and hopefully the UCL will have soon, one way or another. Also floodlights are a source of income from other clubs (£50 a game) and can be an asset to training How successful do you want to be?

all fair points Ian..... however how successful do you want to be?? really is how many clubs want to progress when faced with a leap in terms & conditions to step up to 6 from 7? and how many clubs at step 6 already will simply say.... ok we stepping down.... because the FA have moved the deadlines and some just dont believe its going to happen... and when and if it does... they go to step 7. The FA simply has to fast track money to answer this.. in my opinion.

It makes me laugh when a club like Woodford Halse were paying over a grand a week last season on players yet got massive grants from the FA et al. Yet teams in Div1 who don't pay a penny to players get squat from them.

Its doubtful after visitng the ground pre-season. There would be a massive amount of work to do in the next few months, fencing, floodlights, hardstanding, spectators stand etc etc Its never gonna happen hayden rd would need to see a massive imput of work to meet the standards that you are saying, if higham are joining forces next year, logistical headache for committee This is very true and we are on the way to raising the money to build the new stand and erect new floodlights with new cabling. Its a massive amount of money but we have a large percentage of it apparantley. Our old floodlights will be useless even to pass to any club except perhaps training facilities, even then the cabling must be very very old. Im excited about the merger and the transformation of the ground, lets hope it goes through in the next couple of weeks. I would like to put my money on Whitworths now taking the junior cup. ( why is that such a crap name for a cup comp ?)
