I think Whitworths and Peterborough Northern Star will be two of the favourites. Then any other of the UCL Div 1 teams will be in with a shout,
Thrapston (hopefully) BPW, Higham. A lot will obviously depend on the draw, it would be good if PNS drew Whitworths!!

Come on lets look outside DIV1 UCL with many of the sides gone there is a good opportunity for a dark horse! Ourselves have already put out Bugbrooke & on Saturday Spencer Reserves who where unbeaten this season.
We will wait and see we are enjoying being underdogs!
We fancy anyone at home!

I might of heard wrong? Its doubtful after visitng the ground pre-season. There would be a massive amount of work to do in the next few months, fencing, floodlights, hardstanding, spectators stand etc etc Its never gonna happen

Maybe a few seasons ago but I am afraid it does no longer have the appeal. The Prem UCL is of course an excellent standard and apart from top 5 clubs in DIV1 of which we all know the standard is no higher. Yes grounds are better, facilities etc but that is not always enough. You can see by the current Northampton teams Chenecks,Silbey,Bugbrooke they are struggling and I know have struggled to attract players we do not want to have the same problems.
If you join DIV 1 you must have a target of reaching the Prem within 2-3 years max or like Blisworth the money goes and so do the players.
Would not take long to do the work anyway and please tell me if every team in DIV1 has floodlights? I did not think that mattered i.e Chenecks? would be interested to know.

The FA requirements for Div 1 clubs next season is that they should have floodlights as well as seated accommodation and hard surround on 3 sides (amongst other things)

Well there you have it..... FA be warned.... not enough clubs with ambition! or any that will meet the criteria... been saying for ages that the FA will make border line ambitious clubs at step 7 switch off... and who really can blame them. As for the clubs at step 6 the chop will come next season and if not the one after. If that is the case then simply leagues will merge to meet the new 16 team criteria or... the FA will let reserve sides of Step 5 clubs and above in at step 6.

Roadefc, I agree that a combination prem side could be a darkhorse. We played you at the start of the season and drew 2-2. I have to say having played Moulton on Sat I think they are better side than Roade?? Who else is left in from the combination??

Is that a challenge? Thrapston it is then.
It was a midweek Friendly and coming into November it is a whole new ball game regarding both fitness and confidence for both team so it would be interesting.
Maybe to help we beat Moulton 2-0 just 2 weeks ago so we have come along way and like Moulton we have some very good former UCL players.
If it is not this round then maybe later!! ( however these words could come back to haunt me)
As for the Floodlights that has killed that dead!! Our pitch is surronded by houses so we are unable to put any up.
Can I ask as I do look at all the DIV1 games how many midweek games are there as I don't remember seeing any since Septemeber for DIV 1?? why so critical floodlights needed.
Anyone that has been to Roade or Moulton to name a few will know the facilities are good enough for UCL DIV 1. Lets to be honest you need a pitch goals and changing rooms for 2 hrs on a Saturday afternoon. The Queen is unlikely to visit.
PLEASE NOTE A AM NOT KNOCKING THE UCL ETC THIS IS JUST A INTERESTING TOPIC.

Shame about Roade. The FA seemed to make it hard for clubs season by season! I can understand why the FA have to force clubs to make changes for Health & Saftey reasons but i think they take things to far. Even in the winter we have at least 6 hours of day light! I have gone off the subject again! Sorry!

Grrrrrrrr the FA make me so mad..... yep Roadefc.. with just 16 teams in a step 6 division you right, you dont need lights...... the only good thing about clubs who have gone " floodlights" is the introduction of more teams for Northants senior U18 league. So why are the FA insisting on them at step 6??? cos the plan was 22 clubs a division..... even at step 5 they have reduced that to 20!
