Whitworths with several 1st team regulars out including Holley, Freeman, Howes, Blande & Goosey safely navigated past Welford Victoria 4-o into the last eight.
The result was never in doubt but credit to Welford who's keeper was supurb and who gave an excellent account of themselves.

Roade FC 1 v Thrapston 2
Roade gave a good account of themselves but it was a game of two halves. Roade good in the first but Thrapston far better in the 2nd half.
In the end I think Thrappo deserved it.
Fingers crossed for a good draw in the quarter finals, anyone know when the draw is??

Yes you are right Cam a game of 2 halves. We gave more than a good account it proves at any level you must take your chances. We let this one get away we had two one on ones before you scored which would have been goodnight I would have hoped at 2-0 and to make matters worse we gifted the equaliser when our Keeper on the day dropped a basic catch at your strikers feet.
Yes 2nd half you where much improved however prior to the 1st goal I felt we could have held out it would have been interesting goals change games and we died in the 2nd half.
Goodluck in the next stages
Cam clear up the slope debate as many people suggest the slope makes a difference? I would not say it is much of a slope.
We had a UCL ref Cam? Thought he was very poor for both sides and he was not responsible for us losing but I can see why people get annoyed with some. Our Combination Refs are very good compared to this.

But hey they must have summat about 'em.

I think my money would go on Whitworths now for the cup, although there may be a final say from one of the lower league sides, all of which have done themselves a great justice this year. It proves on the day with a full squad available etc theres not a massive amount in it.
Had to say the suprise result of the day was Burtons loss to Peterborough Sports ?? Dont know much about them but its a strange result.

I agree with that one fletch, what happened to BPW over there? I fancied them to beat P'boro Sports, I thought it was going to be close but for BPW to conceed 6 was a big supprise.
Were P'boro Sports that good?

UCL Watcher, sorry missed your comment.
Whitworths favourites for league & cup double? well according to a lot of people it seems that way, but I just hope the boy's dont take anything for granted as there has been a lot of supprises in both compititions so far this season.
A couple of poor results and it all turns around, but we will keep our fingers crossed that Joe & the boys can do it.
Does anyone know when was the last time the Division 1 & Junior Cup double was acheived?

Roadefc I admit that Thrapston certainly had luck with the first goal but in the 2nd half were the better team. Roade did give a good account of themselves and like Moulton and probably a few others can more than hold their own in the UCL. The slope isn't very big and doesn't make a huge difference. I thought the ref was okay but bottled a few decisions!!

Is it right that Robert Foster scored a ht-trick for the flourmen on saturday and making it 3 in each round? If so has anyone done that before?

Is it right that Robert Foster scored a ht-trick for the flourmen on saturday and making it 3 in each round? If so has anyone done that before? Interestingly my striker at Rushden Rangers Tom Martin scored five in the first game against Deanshanger and 3 in the game we got knocked out against Corby Pegasus ? With 8 goals in 2 games is he still the highest scorer in that cup ?

Nope he's not, I think Robert Foster at Whitworths may well be, as he has 9 in three Junior Cup games this season, a hat-trick in each match v Oundle, Weldon & Welford Victoria!
I dont think anyone else has scored more than that in the cup so far?
