Holders Yaxley moved into the last eight of the Premier Cup after making their top flight status count in the closing stages of this Hall Road contest. Scott Bogusz opened the scoring after 75 minutes with the Cuckoos securing their place in the quarters with a last minute effort from top scorer Mark Paul.

Eynesbury threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Cuckoos for the opening 15 minutes and even stand in ‘keeper Phil Dunn (club goalkeeping coach) was forced into a balletic save. At 0-0 the second half opened with another bombardment from the home team whilst the Cuckoos replied with a hat full of near misses. Scott Bogusz confidently struck the rebound from the bar that Pacillo had delivered from way out on the left wing and Mark Paul finally got his eye in at the close.

Watched the final last season and thought both Yaxley and St Neots played very well. Then Paul scored an excellent goal and it was all over. Surprised on that performance that Yaxley are struggling this season............

Ian, Alconbury play adjacent to polecat lane, best if you come off A1 at Sawtry, then down local road B1043 (runs alongside A1) then follw signs to Alconbury and Alconbury Weston, this will take you over the top of th A1. Follow road down into Alconbury Weston, drive through village for two miles to Alconbury. Pitch and village sports and social club are on left, Nice facilities, nice people
