The Cuckoos completed a mid-week brace of successes by overturning a deficit to claim a last eight place with this victory at Lincoln Road. Phil Stebbing gave Stones the lead ten minutes into the second half, but Ricky Hailstone levelled for Yaxley with 16 minutes remaining and Mark Paul snatched a last minute winner.

Cuckoos manager Gary Clipston planned to field a much changed team from the one that brought Deeping Rangers' record breaking unbeaten run to an end last Tuesday. Before the match he said "I'm resting some players and getting others back into form but I still intend to win!".

Yaxley return to league duty at Desborough Town on Saturday whilst the Reserves entertain Woodford Utd Res at Leading Drove.

Note: The Youth Team (U/18) League Cup final between Yaxley & Coates (scheduled for this Sunday - 2pm - Chestnut Avenue) is being threatened by legal action from defeated semi-finalists Netherton Utd who are claiming that Coates played an ineligible player in a previous round. The Youth League say the final will go ahead as planned but it does appear likely that faced with the threat of legal action they may reconsider. Please check before attending.

There seems to be quite a bit of inelligibility going on this season or does anyone feel this is fairly average for a season? Shame if clubs kicked out of cup comps after the event, though if you break the rules, even innocently, you have to pay the price. Cups are bad enough but imagine if it was the difference between winning and coming second in the league
