we won 2-0 at corby. Decent game. Corby are a good team this year, big and strong and direct.

Great result for Spencer and much needed win for Cogenhoe, though I would be concerned they conceded 2 goals.......

cogenhoe 4-2 sileby any update? cogenhoe needed that win I managed to get a ticket for this one - missed the first 15 mins though!! Cogenhoe settled a bit after going one up then got another just before half time. First 15 mins of the second half Sileby were the better side and got one back with a pen. Cogenhoe looked a bit unsettled for a time but got two quick goals to wrap it up before conceding a second pen for 4-2. They looked like a team that needed a win and probably just about deserved to get it. I notice the match report didn't mention Cogenhoe's manager missing a pen...and I mean miss!! In his defence the game was over at that point. ;D

Rothwell 0 - 1 Newport Pagnell. A very poor first half for Newport, Rothwell made it very difficult for Newport. Thought Rothwell could of had 2 or 3 goals in the first half. Newport came out playing better football in the second half and could of scored a few. The winning goal came 15 minutes from the end, Vinnie Shreives latching onto a cross from Drew Mitten. I was quite impressed with Rothwells set up apart from the set of trees and bushes at the far end that seemed to suck footballs into them. It must cost Rothwell a fortune in footballs. Nice club house and a nice cup of tea as well!

Thank you southamptonsaint. One word about the report on your site - it wasn't Dan Chilton it was his brother Scott. Dan is currently suspended, so it wouldn't do for some eagle-eyed FA official to think he was playing while banned!

Got it spot on Grassroots
Corinths unlucky with the disallowed goal in the first half. Second half Newport had plenty of possession but didn't really trouble our keeper. Having said that in the second half I dont think your keeper had a save to make.
As for the hedge behind the goal it is a bit of a pain especially for poor old Butch who has the unenviable job of retieving the balls. Perhaps though if your strikers had their sights homed in on goal he wouldn't have been kept quite so busy!!!
It was good to see so many of your lads in the clubhouse after the game. You would be surprised at the number of teams who just don't bother making the effort after a game.

Im just pleased Newport have won a cup game. They lost all of them last year! Rothwell were very unlucky in the first half. The lads are a good friendly sociable lot. I would of stayed myself after but had be up at 4.30am next morning!

League Cup - Round 1
Newport Pagnell Town 2 - 2 Stotfold (After Extra Time) (Newport wins 4-2 on Penalties).A great perfromance by Newport to beat a very good Stotfold side. Newport took the lead through Richard Armstrongs low drive. The Swans were awarded a penalty when Rob McDonald was bundled down in the box. Upstep the Captain John Thrope to hit the cross bar! Stotfold Equalised in the second half from a header 20 minutes from time after around 20 minutes of solid pressure! Later Newport did score but it was ruled out for offside by the lino. Extra time saw Newport regain the lead through Scott Mulkern on the 103rd minute. Then In the second half of extra time Stotfold equalised 7 minutes from time. Newport then had Rob Tapp dismissed from some reason not known to me (I havent got a clue why)! Then later for the second time Newport had a goal disallowed through offside (and no it wasnt offside this time). We were not very confident when it came down to penalties due to Newports track record from penalty shoot outs. Thorpey, Armstrong, Fletcher and Kelly all netting for the Swans and the penalty hero our Aussie keeper Bruce producing some decent saves! An excellent team performance by Newport Pagnell. Next up Daventry Town at Willen Road, 20th Nov.
