Ridgeons League Division One club Tiptree United have been removed from the FA Cup competition for this season, with Essex Senior League side London APSA being re-instated in their place.
This decision was taken in light of the fact that the FA Cup Sub Committee found that Tiptree had played two players without obtaining permission from the clubs with which they were registered with.
The FA were sympathetic to the case put forward by Tiptree in that both the players in question had been released by Northampton Town and Ipswich Town respectively in July and that these clubs considered that they had told the lads that they were free to go and play for another club.
However, what had not happened was that the necessary paperwork wasn't lodged with the Football Association, thereby officially terminating their scholarships.
Because of this, when it was realised that they had been playing for Tiptree United in the FA competitions, this was found to be in direct contradiction of the rules.
Tiptree would like to state that they feel that they received a fair hearing at Soho Square and came away with the feeling that the commission members had tried every way possible to find a way for our club to remain in the FA Cup.
This situation is likely to be repeated in respect of the FA Vase and the club anticipates they will be advised whether the same penalty may be imposed in respect of that competition.
Sileby may be given another chance then surely?
