Would just like to say, that for all the abuse that Paul has recieved he is a top man and deserves a pat on the back for what he has done!! Like us he has had to make alot of changes throughout the team which alot of people didnt like and success aint gonna come over night and people must understand that. So well done. We earnt our win over at your place and you took your chances today! Well done and all the beat for the season.

Ok Townie so you are a former town committee member let me ask you this. In Cl's comment he stated that success aint gonna come over night which is exactly the point last season with Lingy's side. As you well know Lingy took over from Blackers after some disagreements between yet again the committee an the management and therefore had to rebuild whilst being a third of the way into the season. by the time the season ended the average age of the squad was 23 so pretty good foundations had been laid for the future dont you think. However will and i emphasise will the committee be patient in waiting for paul to get success or will they show the same impatience with him whilst ignoring their own responsibilities. If they choose to do the latter then lets hope for their sake that Paul stays because IF he gets promotion then Huntingdon cannot go up because their ground is not upto standard ....... i wonder if paul is aware of this .....i suspect not. So Townie if you are a genuine supporter of huntindon town then why didnt you show the same level of support to Lingy or were you part of the same silent assasins squad that condemned Gary to jump before he was pushed.

lordbyron there are some very valid points in there that i agree with, personally I think the commitee will be impatient AGAIN, its a shame because lingy made brilliant foundations and to be fair paul is doing the same... but the commitee dont seem 2 understand that things dont happen over night

Paul is making foundations but lingys men were more likely to stay with the club as they were local. Can you see all these boys from stevenage, peterborough or where ever staying long term? Judging by how many players this year have already come and gone this year it suggests not. But i maybe wrong.

sorry pointofview but i dont think paul is laying foundations at all .....how can he be bringing in players from all over the place .....where are they at training .......can you see them travelling all the way to huntingdon just to train NAH neither can i ......hence the under 18s now training with the 1st team on tuesday nights. To quote the new reserve team managements words 'that if swannell goes this club are in the S...T' True or not. Cos if he does then town are gonna be in exactly the same position as Goddy are now after their experience with a certain mr jackson who thought that local players werent good enough. They might not be good enough but look around the area an tell me these players in the same side couldnt put some fear into opponents ............ HUNT, SOMMERS, NICKY HURST STAMPER, NEVILLE, BASS, FOREMAN, FOX, BASSETT, BLACKWELL, KING, MAHIENERKIE so many good local players that have all left huntingdon and wont return because of the present committee apart from Foreman bless him. Thats what foundations are not players that will be here today gone tomorrow when the money stops getting paid.

what good sensible comments my Lord. You are obviously passionate about your local football. Despite the well known fact, outsiders will not prevail ( Jacko itis its known as) Town seem to be heading down the same slippery slope as Goddy did. Getting excited about being 5th in the league will not paper over the cracks, Paul might gun down Whitworths and Sleaford, but I can't see that getting him the same sainthood that Lingy has. So whats the answer? ?? Local players (majority definatley) new committee (certainly) but whatever happens I hope it wont drag on too long. Just look at the damage it did to Goddy, and come to think of it St Neots with Kuhne and all his players going. Mind you its a good debate

sorry matty but being that i know you are now enjoying your retirement and boy i bet you're glad you are out of all this .....i didn't mention you not that you were'nt a great asset to the club. But hey you are a perfect example of why the committee at huntingdon are so so shortsighted ........why did they not see fit to ask someone such as yourself to go onto the committee and breathe some fresh air into it. Maybe they didn't think you would conform to their little social club up there ay. And in answer to Fred's question new committee well i think you only need to travel round the local pubs an clubs to get the answer to that one. OH BY THE WAY HAS ANYONE NOTICED HOW QUIET TOWNIE HAS GONE IN THIS DEBATE COME ON TOWNIE REVEAL YOURSELF

hi- i have stayed at town for the last four seasons mainly as a reserve and unfortunately i have just been to the docs and i have torn my miniscal ligament so unfortunately my seasons over. im well gutted, as i was looking forward to seeing what the new lads could do with the reserves. in my time i have been managed by lingy, paul telling, andi rossi, steve newman darnell dodds and recently ricky, i do agree that ling did well for the first team and i will proudly say that i think hes the best man manager and motivator and morale booster i have ever worked with. did he not inherit the team he managed? we talk about building foundations and it seems to me it was actually andi rossi, then paul telling, then lingy who built the foundations i the first team. im not disagreeing with anyone, he did do very well in my opinion i just think previous managers should also get some credit, good luck to the new managers
why dont people post their real names on the forum? bring back matty b!

It is easy for message board posters to hide behind user names but generally it is accepted practise to allow members to use whatever name they wish.
Usually you can work out who is who though!

Ryan,
Sorry to hear about the injury - plenty of physio and recuperation is in order - don't try and play until your 100% (even if it means no more footy this season). Ligaments just can't be rushed.
It's a shame as things look to be getting interesting with the new managers on the scene but you've plenty of time ahead of you. In the meantime, you could get a pseudonym and have hours of fun on here winding everyone up !
Mat
