One of the problems (as I'm finding out) is the generation of content.
If it's just left to the webmaster it can become limited because it's always one person's view of things, and also he/she can get a bit fed up of doing it all.
If it can be organised so that a group of people own their section (like someone doing the news, someone else doing match reports etc) then they just mail it to the webmaster who publishes it to the site, then that would work a treat.

It would be great if the UCL had a site which produced RSS feeds for news and SSI for the league tables. The league tables would work provided there was no headers in the SSI and the table was stripped to the basics (ie. [td] with no style).
I think it's fair to say that unless you're able to find a way to automate site content it can be a lot of hard work to keep the site up-to-date. Even I struggle to keep the site up-to-date, though I automate fixtures/results I rely on some content being sent to me and having the time to adjust it for website use.

True - but there is more than 1 person with input to the website at Raunds... Bryan was doing well updating it at the beginning of the season, but it may be getting too much for him at the mo. It needs one whole day solidly working on it - then two easy non-extensive maintainence periods a week...

Sometimes you have to spend a good 3 - 4 hours updating football club web sites. Changing news, next fixtures, results, tables, match reports, photographs, league tables, whats on.
If your team loses, you couldn't be bothered until a few days after.
If they win, you want to have a few beers!
When there's no financial reward for you and you have other responsibilities, finding the time is very difficult!

Totally agree Jonmac. With a club such as Bugbrooke, updating the site for all its teams is one heck of a job, coupled into the fact it has to be done during your spare time, it isnt as easy as most people think.
