Gerro
I wouldn't be too sure about that , think Whits still have the depth and stability
Could be that a bit of tweaking needs doing and the negative side dishes sorted out .. but still well in it
I had a free day yesterday and as my old team Whits Res were playing in Corby , i went up S&l to have a look
They had 3 youngish lads playing that could defo provide a diff option for the 1st team , were very good .
Also i think Figo could do alot worse than get James Westley ( wezza ) back involved with the 1st team in some capacity
That would be a masterstroke , he is pure utter quality and has been there seen it and done it , even if he is a baldy big nosed ugly damn-pot !!!
He is in that elite group of players that i could count one hand to be considered nuts hot and no matter what his training circumstances are , if the target is promotion then allowances have to be made
If Joe has got the bottle ( he has got the nous ) to mix his 1st team squad up a bit then they still can go close for me , he also may have some players coming back to him soon aswell to add to the squad .
Its hotting up defo and we'll see who copes the best ?
One thing for sure and it may seem obvious but as each week passes , we can see who is going to challenge
The top 4 as it is at the moment , for me will contest it
Money will play a huge part ,
is it sustainable ?
Is there a fall back ?
Plenty of twists and turns around the corner , would love to be in that mix myself
Maybe one day , when my talents are realized , and the corruption & conspiracies are finally abolished !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never got play against Whitworths last season so to judge them would be silly, but results, losses (Eynesbury still baffles me) and a heavy result like that doesn't bode well for any side. It reminds me so much of the Sileby situation when they won it and didn't go up - as stated on a different thread - without the ambition its extremely hard to get anyone motivated like last season.
And reading between the lines - players seem to be jumping ship and going elsewhere.

to be honest gerro whitworths were fantastic last season and the season before thro one thing only, rob foster! he is someone who scored 30 plus a season if he played in any ucl1 side and scored that many that team be champions too, managers would break their right leg to sign someone like him in any team, aint that right whitworths, unfortunately those kind of players dont fall at your lap every season.

Understood - we've landed a tasty striker in Ben Thompson (hatrick on debut) so I know what you mean.

How many saves did Rob Foster make? How many clean sheets did he keep? How many times did he run from box to box? Its not the player who makes the team but the team who makes the player you dimwit. If he hadnt had gone to whitworths , would he be at Cogenhoe now? Well let me think? How many goals did Holley AND Freeman(from midfield) get? Are you his mate?

think your spot on billyboy....berwick scored 36 for my team daventry last season....top scorer by a long way in division one but they didnt win the league! Goals certainly help out and 1 player getting 30+ is exceptional but it takes a team to win the league

Sometimes as a manager you can get selection just slightly wrong , coupled with some other things and the end result can look disastrous , having said that it's never happened to me !!!
Think years ago i got beat 3 - 1 or 3 - 0 it was but that was about as bad as Ive ever had
Anyway , after hearing today the Whits line up on sat you can kinda see why it went tits up or the inquest after-wards for it going tits up , but a little bit of tweaking and they are still well in it
Nobody should underestimate them
I heard Joe went 442 with freeman playing as an orthodox c.mid , not sure that would ever work , but i could be wrong .
Perhaps figo is missing my tactical help , that RC were only to happy to get rid of !!!
Mainly cos there are no tactics over there !!! Ouch meow
4 3 2 1 FROM R TO L
PATTO , LINE , SHARP , GORMAN , O'NEIL , RAFTERY , GOOSEY , FREEMAN , JARVIS , BLACK , DALDY
SUBS WAGER , WESTLEY , RODRIGUEZ
No need for defenders on bench as goosey , raftery can do that or if you need to change it positively during the game , then it's likely you would go to a back 3
No worries Joe , anytime Lol

Got to agree with BB about Dav Tn and have said so on other threads. The only thing is because we never turned up not sure how good they really are. Very dissappointed that the team that fought with PNS and Huntingdon gave up against Daventry. Still bad day at the office, 9 points not the end of the world and with heads straight 2nd place at worst is still definately on On the Foster point, he only played a handful of games the year before last when we finished 3rd and didnt play the season prior when we finished 2nd. He is a fantastic player though and why Rothwell Town with their troubles have not signed him is a mystery to me...........unless he didnt want to go. As ever BB right about last season, Rob did get 32 in all comps but Freeman got 20+ from Midfield and Holley also scored 22 as a link man so not just Fozzie but a very good team.

Understand what you're saying here and no one player is bigger than the team but somebody who can put the ball in the net can be the difference between a good season (2nd or 3rd) and a very good season (Champions). Sleaford noticed this last year when their top goalscorer from their title winning side missed the majority of the season. Of course you still need to have the all round quality in the side as well which is why despite Berwick's goals last season Dav were a bit short. They seem to have rectified that this season though.
