We were surprised at the lack of resistance at our place after their good start. But, I understood that the manager was away that day and a few regulars were missing too.

They have got too many good players to be in the bottom half for too long and think this is just a blip as they seem to be struggling to get a settled team out. Sure the guys there will turn it around.

A few steps back to take a few steps forward. Still in a top 6 slot.

There seems to be a problem with commitment at Huntingdon Town, can they attract the right sort of players there who have the ability to help them kick on and win the league? They certainly have the facilities but do they have the pwoer to pull players away from the likes of St.Neots, St.Ives and even Godmanchester!

commitment? they were playing down the river 7 seasons ago and now have a 1 million pound club house and are a strong div 1 team. the business has been successful with links with Huntingdon Rowdies youth and town are now major event holders. the commitment behind the scenes is there. i believe that some quality players from st ives, st neots and godmanchester should look at the league of div 1, assess the players town have, and then realise that there is a very good chance they could win that league this year. then they may be more attracted to huntingdon. thank 'returner' for posting though

Ryan, I actually meant commitment from players, forgive me if I'm wrong but they seem to have a high turn around of players joining and leaving. Problem is with getting players there is people want money these days. Its as simple as that and Huntingdon dont pay if im correct?

returner i agree that commitment from players on a week to week basis over the last few seasons has not been great, but i undastand that the current management team are trying to make sure that dont happen this season. last season the team ended the season pretty strongly and i think if we can keep our better players and add some decent quality in the other areas, then maybe we can have a better season.

A team with Huntingdons facilities should really be competing in the UCL Prem, no doubt about that, however, can someone answer me two things, 1, do they have the playing budget to get them there, and 2, if they were to get there this season would the budget then be bigger to sustain Prem football? Also, it seems to me that players are continually allowed to come and go as they see fit, people like Paul Bass for one has joined and left more times than games he has played, James Edwards, Klie Brighton, Dan Meston all these players decide to join and then leave every season.
Please do not shoot me down as this is only what I have heard and is my own opinion.

I agree with returner, I understand exactly where he's coming from. Huntingdon have some very good players, but unfortunately - compared to other UCL teams - those players do lack commitment. Whether that be commitment on the pitch to put in a good shift, commitment to get to training or commitment to be at all matches. Some of the lads there aren't the most reliable.
With regards to budget, and I fully realise that there'll be someone reply and say that's absolute rubbish, I believe that with the money provided for the playing budget from the club and other income from the manager / sponsors, the playing budget will be around £600 per week. So should they win the league? Definitely. Will they? I'm not sure, I think they will certainly be top 3. I certainly hope they do, as their facilities are superb and belong in the prem.

Don’t bite my head for this reply but..... and I have only played at Hunts about 4 or 5 times and I have to say it is one of the worst grounds for playing football I have ever played at. Yes the club house, changing rooms are great but the pitch is always rock solid and the wind on many days makes good football impossible.
I know I would not want to play there week in week out during our winter but could this be a reason for players showing a lack of commitment? Its one thing to play there on a Saturday afternoon but if you have to train twice a week up there I’m sure players will call in the odd sicky when its a cold night!
This isn’t meant as a dig at Huntingdon as I have always found them to quite welcoming.

And where does this source of information come from Georgie? I agree about the pitch being so hard and also wide open. Are there any plans afoot to somehow block out the wind with trees?

I dont think anyone who comes on here with an alterego login name should have the right to mention other players names as they have no right of reply. Huntingdon town pitch is hard yes, The club is going places. It is extremely feasible that within 10 years of playing footall down the river, Huntingdon Town can be playing in the United Counties League Premier Division with the back bone of a million pound complex. In terms of strategic vision, this is exactly where we should be at this time.
