Just a few thankyou's following Friday nights game.
A big thanks to Daren (or CorbyKen if your names Pat!) and the lads for turning in their best performance of the season so far and giving the loyal Irchie followers something to really cheer about.
Secondly would like to thank everyone who braved the weather to come and watch, which meant for once our gate receipts were actually greater than the stupidly high match official costs.
Have to also thank the Whitworths management team for deciding to put Kris Line on the bench making our life a little bit easier, always a tough defender to play against and a goal threat from set pieces!

Some result that. Must make irch the new faves for the league with the bookmakers. When will Daren actually get any credit off some people. On the contrary to his happy meal claims, everyone knows that somehow Daren bankrolls his football teams but whats wrong with that He puts money into the game and helps to improve clubs and their facility's. It's not like he's the only guy in the UCL spending a decent to very good budget on players in order to win something or get promoted. At least its his own and hes not wasting anybody elses. He puts his money where his mouth is. Also you have to have a bit of nouse to win things so i don't buy that allegation either. Personally, it's not my cup of tea or way of doing things mainly because I'm a tight git but all clubs, managers, coaches and teams have different targets, policies and goals they are trying to achieve or they are at different stages of development towards their targets. There are no villains. In the thread Toffs V Paupers, my argument is only, that guys at the top are not always necessarily better than the guys working at the bottom.
I wouldn't swap our man at BPW for anybody else. The plan of action he has and the development of football structure through the club, its is a pleasure to watch him work and he works damn hard along with his staff. He lives and breathes it. The theory of doing it 'without money' and developing young local talent is admirable. He is one of the best about and i don't say that too easily. I think we need to appreciate ALL guys in all our UCL leagues who have different ideas, targets and philosophy's on the game. No-one is right or wrong and nobody is taking anything away from the game.
Well done Daren and your lads on a great result. Whitworths are a decent side. I for one hope you go on and win the league and you will deserve it if you do.

Luv everyone jumping on my bandwagon. Unlike Daren (sorry about spelling mate, mind you according to Pat it would all have been part of an elaborate cover up) I can shout from the rooftops, Romans crush the Flourpot Men!!!!!!!!!!!! (to be fair it wasn't a 6-0 game) Surely everyone must accept we are best team in league and huge favs, Everyone else same old same old and PNS only top cos they have played more games and are not the team they were last year.
Only shame will be that side won't be going up this season, but talking around ground Friday things should move forward for next year if side can stay together.

Pleased for all at Irchester and i would agree that you look to be favourites to win Div 1, but do not wright PNS off. I am replying to this as my name (lol) seems to be on every post. Good luck to the Irchester faithful, who over the years now have something to shout about after just trying to keep your heads above water most seasons. Just one point to make, if you can not go up why spend so much on the players?(how did CorbyKen know this) Why not spend it on the ground then go for it next season? As i am sure there was no pressure on DY to win the Division at all. Loz will Irchester ever be in the position to progress to the next level/levels due to the Cricket played at the club? This is an honest question so please take is as such.

I must say that Irchester are the team in form at the moment with 10 goals scored in the last 2 matches with none conceded. The 6 - 0 hammering of Whitworths was an eye opener and Irchester if they win all of their remaining matches will win the title.
However I wouldnt write off PNS just yet, I think they have returning players that are making them the team they were last season, they certainly thrashed us.
But then again I thought that Eynesbury were slightly better than Irchester and Irchester took all 3 points from them too, so what do I know?
I have to agree it seems strange that winning the title is a bigger priority to achieving approved ground status but each team, club committee has their own targets, aims and agenda's.
Still with only a 3rd of the season gone, many games, injuries, transfers etc to come I am sure there will still be a few twists, turns and surprises yet, but for now well done to Daren and Irchester for a fantastic start to the season and some very good football by all accounts.
As for the rest of us what music to our ears, because if Irchester are definatly going to win the league (as this post states) and not go up, the rest of will get a huge reward for finishing 2nd or 3rd.

Irchester are not favorites to win league, yes we have had a wins recently and long may it continue, we will continue to take one game at a time and do the best that we can on the day, we will under estimate no one As for ground - after turning down a prem job and deciding to ride the storm the committee assure me the ground will be done by march, hard standing and stand, as for cricket, no issues with league on that front, we will have a three sided pitch with the fourth side being fenced off to spectators, thats if we finish in a promotion place!! p.s.- a big thank you for those who have wished us well, very much appreciated

Can confirm Daren's last post, we have been told there will be no problem in being a 3 sided ground, all we have to do is make sure that no spectators make it onto the cricket side when the game is in play.
The chairman of the committee who look after the running of the sportsfield and clubhouse as a whole has been working tirelessly for us the football club to help get the ground up to scratch, once planning permisson is granted for the stand.

Well I guess this thread and the respective last 2 posts from Passit and Corbyken proves they are not the same person, unless of course he is a real whacko schizo.

loz, You mentioned the "stupidly high match officials cost". The officials came from Corby,Thrapston and Rushden I believe, not exactly Lands End.

Adored - The stupidly high match officials cost is a general thing. It basically costs £100 give or take in match official fees for every saturday home game and I know there's not many clubs in Div 1 that can say they regularly take that on the gate.
Why we have to have proper lino's at this level of the game I dont know, and lets be honest here we all know that most of them are no better than a club lino anyway. (Just ask anyone that saw our cup game against Stotfold last Tues night and I doubt you'll find someone that will say any of them deserved their match fee and expenses!)
To me it will always seem like money down the drain, especially when the FA keep demanding better & better ground requirements

Totally disagree with you Loz. This is not local football and league is trying to move forward not back. Officials improve as you go up the leagues but they all have to start and end somewhere.

Thats fine Ken, I'm all for progress!
Just having played under both systems I really can't say its got any better (at least under the old system you would turn up to games with a rough idea what the lino was going to be like)
For the standards to improve I think the current system needs to be changed.
For example one of the lino's from the Whitworths game was the ref in a Div 4 Northants Combination game the week before and I cant see his name on the UCL fixtures for this Sat. Surely to improve he should be consistantly used as a Lino for Div 1 and Prem games and then as a Ref for Res Div games or Combination Prem Games not farmed off to Div 4 as thats a long way off the level UCL teams play at.
