Hi,
As a new member I thought I would put out this little bank holiday teaser, also it will be interesting to gauge varying opinions around the league. Mine are as follows
Top 3 Defender 1)Hill (PNS) 2)Hackett (irchester) 3)Plummer (PNS)
Top 3 Strikers 1)J Graham (Hunts) 2)L Bradley (ON's) 3)K Gibbs (PNS)
Top 3 Midfield 1) Young (irchester) 2) Gilsenan (irchester) 3)Edge(PNS)

You boys need to get out and watch a bit more footy P. Caswell without doubt the best striker(all round centre forward) in the league. But i think the rest of the best players comes from a little further afield than PNS, HUNTS and IRCHY and one from Chenecks.

Surprised this topic has not generated much debate as it seems infinately more interesting than the usual talk of different club's budgets and who can hate irchester the most... Anyway, having played against all but one side in this league this season, would have to agree that 442's choices seem a little limited in terms of scope. For what it is worth, my choices would be as follows:
Defenders Plummer (PNS) Cook (ONC) Hackett (Irchester)
Midfielders Campbell (Irchester) Albone (Eynesbury) Belfon (Whitworth)
Strikers P Caswell (Irchester) Graham (Hunts) Gibbs (PNS)

Jossiegiants - good shout and agree with your Defenders & Strikers exactly
In Midfield I would have Jon Hoggett of Wootton rather than Belfon (who is also preyty good mind).
Thought that Aaron Baldwin & Ashley Farmer up top for Kempston were both decent but 3 mentioned are defo the best 3.
Liam Fox, Dave Beeny & Steve Spruels the 3 top keepers

I agree my top threes may have been a bit limited, however i would certainly say both caswell's and possibly both ONC centre halfs would make my top fives!!
Here is one to put out there what are your thoughts on the top three Div 1 managers taking into account budgets , league positions etc?

Interesting, for me it would have to be the lad at Northampton ON Chenecks if they do not pay then they has done a great job. Can be a bit of Grey area can 'Budget' be. I have played and been involved with quite a few clubs that claim publicly 'not to pay' [/b]but when you scratch the surface you can interpret otherwise. Some clubs who claim 'not to pay' do cover travel expenses and cover the cost of bookings and sendings off. Personally, i would stretch to say that this is 'paying'. Travel expenses and covering disciplinary costs without a doubt is a financial incentive for a player. I can hand on heart and honestly say that at BPW there is not a single penny available for player incentives and infact they are encouraged to contribute to the club without knowing with some very clever 'stealth taxes' from the very stingy Mr Salako .. It would be interesting to know other clubs that operate the same. I think the general feeling on this is that along with BPW, Sileby do not pay a scent I believe at the moment that Chens and Bugbrooke do not pay but have flirted with paying in recent years in the form of a win bonus basis though it did not last.. I understand that Whitworths began this season paying a win bonus but abandoned it after some poor results. However, Whitworths are the last team to win Div One without a budget and handsomely so, going undefeated for the season in Figo's charge ( where is he these days ) Not sure about Olney but would hazard a good guess that everyone else in the league not mentioned above is paying something. So, if the Chenecks do not pay a dime then you got to say they are doing very well. Very very difficult to pick top three players in such a good league but without a doubt and i am surprised he is not in any defender lists so far and thats Tim Knowles at Bugbrooke

hahaha! Good work..............
In all seriousness,
Nathan Cook is a top player - one of the better footballing centre halves in the Division. Agreed that Belfon for Whits made an impact on us. Caswell is a tidy player and with the bit between his teeth, very hard to play against. Both Strikers at Kempston gave me headaches all day Gibbs at PNS is also a quality player, but I've never played PNS when fit.
