Harborough Town are just one win away from winning the Northants Combination, meaning they could be accepted for promotion to Division one of the UCL?

Hope they do step up, division one could certainly do with more clubs, but according to the Harborough Mail the chairman quit the other day partly due to the clubs financial problems.

Does anyone know if they will be accepted - as they have applied for the last 2 years and been gazumped each time (altho think this was due to ground grading shortfalls???). Not sure if its UCL not accepting their bid or Combination not releasing them..........

The Combination certainly blocked them 2 years ago, after the UCL had accepted them (and included them in the League Cup draw). As an official feeder league I don't think they can stop a side finishing in the top 2 from being promoted.

The FA leagues committee have approved their eligibilty for promotion and their league position qualifies them so I assume that they could be a UCL club next season. Two years ago they did not finish in a promotion position and therefore did not qualify for promotion.

Ok thanks for the update. I read on previous threads that teams are being allowed 'grace' to ensure they have the correct facilities for 1 x season - is that the case, and in your opinion is that what is happening with HTFC as i know they still do not have a covered area/stand?

Im confused, lankie is suggested that HTFC have already been approved but ianh you are suggesting that they need a covered area for 50? I know they havent got that covered area and my guess is that they should have had this in place by 31st March - as they havent does that mean that lankie is right and they will bne allowed a seasons grace to get the covered area or is ianh right and they wont be a UCL team until they have the ground grading right before the deadline time?

Sorry if I confused you. Final promotion is subject to current agreed criteria which includes league position and their ability to achieve the required ground grading.
