What is happening! Heard a supporter say players hadnt turned up because it was only a cup game and couldnt be bothered! Cup or not players should turn up. Thought the players who did turn up played extremely well to finish with the 0-4 scoreline, starting with 10 and following a dismissal mid way through first half and injury in second half finishing the game with 8. Also the centreback struggled aswell in the last 10mins. Thought the mitoo report wasnt fully correct in saying powerful first half display from Deeping ,was more in Sleafords favour until Smith was dismissed. 1 goal was keeper error which he acknowleged and an unfortunate own goal All credit to the team for encouraging each other even though they looked knackered by the end. Thought Deeping could have got more goals if they had pushed more players forward, with Sleaford only having Shaw up front why mark him with 4 players.

Thanks for the comments 'watcher' your right the lads did well and kept on trying. The centreback was struggling towards the end of the game as it was his first game since breaking his ankle pre-season.

I think the reason behind the evenings events are somewhat being covered up by some polite comments above. Jason Harrison (backroom staff) has left the club to take up a role at Shepshed Dynamo. This won't come as a suprise as he rarely lasts a season at the same club and has done this before to Sleaford. A number of the Sleaford squad were brought in by Harrison from the Grantham area and have only just realised the club are not paying players and have therefore either elected not to bother turning up or left. Credit to the genuine dedication of those that turned up.

4 of the Grantham lot being Simon Bolland, Greg Smith, Jamie McGhee,Sam Kirton all turned up. Greg was praised in the Linc's echo by Rowland for his display in goal when keeper was injured in warm up and then sits on the bench the next week, how much does he have to do to prove himself. Sleaford have had several players on loan that have been recalled to their respective clubs, always a danger when playing loan players.Need a settled side and play people in a postion they know. Stubbs was reported in paper as a no show but he is on loan from Grantham Town so could always be a danger he could be recalled too. Where were all the usual side (20 or so started season)surely all the did not turn up are injured!

I'm guessing Greg Smith and Jamie McGhee will leave within the week. I agree about the dangers of playing loan players, especially in large numbers as when they move on those that were left out of the squad to make way may not want to be recalled. The "usual" side or 20 that started the season were mainly local lads (incidentally town won their first two games). Many of those have had to make way as players have been brought in and since then the results have gone down hill. The commitment of those brought in is now being seen by all and I for one saw it all coming.

Sleaford have good facilities (even though pitch can be hard and bobbly, no worse than others in league. )if unable to pay players they will struggle as we all know there is a recession and some players need to cover their travelling costs. Grounds can be quite a distance to travel, luckily Sleaford usually have coach for away games which helps but if you include turning up to sleaford to train midweek (if they do turn up )and then to games it all adds up. Mcghee has played at higher level and good luck to him if he can get hhigher regular football elswhere. Are Sleaford trying to secure sponsers etc or were they depending on cup game results. Lets hope they can show the same spirit as they did on tuesday and play as a team and not individuals. Perhaps referring to local lads isnt constructive when you want the 11 that are on the pitch to play as a team wherever they are from. Looking at the squad list it doesnt seem too much difference from first 2 wins to the first few losses. Then changes came as people didnt turn up and injuries happened etc. So to imply that first games were ok because local lads were playing I think is false or pehaps I misunderstood. Lets hope they can turn the corner tomorrow.
