Whilst I can heap plenty of praise on both sides for a good game, good and friendly hospitality and S&L on their efforts to get their ground to spec under difficult circumstances etc.. I thought the lack of spectators in general and of club officials (including the manager) on my club's part as disappointing to say the least. I can only apologize to S&L and the cup organizers for that. I would like wish S&L well in the round. The game itself was quite wind swept, I thought was a lot of good work by Raunds that went unrewarded, but the gusto of Steve's Nobles side and the wind was our great undoing. Personally, I think we are going to be apathetic about such cup games then we shouldn't bother with them in the first place, even though we pay for them whether or not we participate.

It is quite a difficult one to muster up huge amounts of enthusiasm for, unless you get one of the big teams and they put out a decent side. PNS already had a couple that were not going to be available and then had another 3 players cry off yesterday afternoon because they were working 30 miles the other side of P'Boro and just would not have been able to do the 100 miles to Daventry in time for the game.
This made a difficult task against a strong Daventry Town side pretty impossible, though we took the lead and held our own for most of the game. Only had Plums himself and another 16-year old on the bench in the end. However we enjoyed the experience and on balance it was a good chance to judge our progress against a strong and physical unit.

Why would your manager go and watch St Neots play when his own team are playing???

Why would your manager go and watch St Neots play when his own team are playing??? Well since we will be playing them next Tuesday, finding a way to not get trounce into double figures possibly?

In order to do that he would be better off watching how his own players are performing and concentrating on them .
