This fixture is the Spencer home fixture that was due to be played last week. However the league have dictated that the fixture is now a Ford Home game and MUST be played on Wednesday even though Fords midweek home night is Tuesday. I think this is outrageous. The League are notified of nights for midweek games at season commencement and should not have the power to change it. Has anybody else had their midweek home night changed by the League?

I think that Wednesday is Spencers home night and because the fixture was originally a Spencer home fixture it was made as a wednesday game. Maybe when we play Spencer away, they will be told to play on Tuesday (not) ?? Edit: Just checked Mitoo. Spencer play on Tuesday. So no excuse from the League on that score then. Totally mystified??

Seriously, can you feel the love going out to this perfectly effective and adequate league organisation... its just beautiful Hold on KPM et al, before you ave a go, find out the facts and if the league have done something just cos they feel like it with no reason then fair enough have a go. Your Secretary I'm sure would pass on any concerns you have, there are also committee members who you could channel any queries through, The League even have their committee meetings at Raunds. (I would be more than pleased to discuss or bring up any problems if you want to meet me for a beer) Any league exists for its member clubs (although keep in mind, you can please some, all of the time or you can please all, some of the time, but its impossible to please all, all of the time)

It strikes me that both club secretaries may have agree to it. But again the issue of too many games around Christmas, and crappy weather/pitch, time of year is really at the heart of this. Since our winters are becoming more like monsoons then I think the league, in fact other leagues as well, ought to consider having one month off. But can you imagine the rumpus that would cause.

Are you joking, having a month off and no football for a month what would i do. I get depressed in the summer when there is no world cup/european cup. What else could you do on boxing day if all football was cancelled

As previous and regardless of what one or other secretary may say, the game would only have been re-scheduled with the agreement of both clubs so someone within each group authorized the change, without maybe considering the supporters views. As Ian H says though, if you have issues raise them through your club reps to be heard at the monthly UCL meeting.

But for me it would mean not having to come down from Derbyshire for boxing day game and I can find something to fill my time with, will may be!!! ;D ;D

I don't know why motorman is worried - if it doesn't suit Ford Sports to play, they can just call it off again! Last week the game was called off by the BAR MANAGER because there was no running water in the clubhouse. This week the Ford Sports management decided to phone the league and tell them the game was off! Shouldn't there be a referee involved somewhere along the line when games are being called off? What's next? Wellingborough calling off a game because the Dog & Duck pub has run out of porky scratchings? Raunds calling off a game because the Mcdonalds next door isn't selling the minty-choc milk shakes anymore? Pathetic.

Now theres an idea
Reasons for calling off games I'll start with;
Val's chips too stingy ;D

The game last week was a SPENCER home game that due to their boatinglake pitch having some water on it we were asked if we would assist by playing the match at home. We agreed to this. On the morning of the game, local construction works broke a water main. This meant there was no water to the building and as such presented a health & safety risk as toilet, washing, showering etc. facilities were not available. As the Club Steward for Fords Motor Company, whose clubhouse we use Could not offer environmentally safe facilities, the Clubhouse could not be opened. This included the dressingrooms. Spencer were contacted and informed of the situation and proposed that maybe the game COULD go ahead at their place. Unfortunately, 10 mins later Spencer informed us they could not play the match at home. As for last nights game, I dont know if you went out but at 5.30 the pitch and surrounding areas were fog bound. I doubt if a referee could have found his way there to call off the game. It was (and still is now) fog bound.

So you DO confirm that in neither cancellation was an independant referee consulted?
Thank You.

So you DO confirm that in neither cancellation was an independant referee consulted? Thank You. Not at all. A referee (always independant you moron) would only have the ability to say whether the PITCH could be available, not facilites for public use. You cannot play without Facilities available to the public in this league. And I'm sure Spencer would have really enjoyed driving home with mud all over them.! Might do that in the Comb and Sunday leagues but not in the UCL. And I think that if Fords contacted a local INDEPENDANT referee (not saying they didn't) to ask if the fixture should go ahead, he would have looked out of his window and said NO.
