A photo I took at St Neots after the match was abandoned... ...It was a good turnout today and prior to the match being abandoned the score was 1-1.

Newport Pag. 0 v 5 Wellingborough What can i say! Wellingborough deserved the result and score line. Newport were not up for it at all. The weather conditions were bad and we were missing 4 first team players but i dont like to use that as an excuse as the team should be able to adjust to the weather conditions and the replacement players should be able to fill in for the absent players. We were hoping the ref would call off the game at half time as the pitch was very water logged. Either that or an alien space craft would crash into the middle of the pitch!!! ;D Well done Wellingborough, they played well! My only complaint was the 5th goal they scored when one of the Newport players was down injured and Wellingborough decided to carry on play instead of kicking the ball out so the NP player could recieve treatment. Not very good sportsmanship. But then again the ref could of stop play! Come on Swans lets bounce back against Long Buckby! ;D

It never rains…
It certainly poured for Raunds, following a frustrating defeat in a local derby to Wellingborough, the Shopmates were hammered at Kiln Park in another local derby which saw Cogenhoe “do the double” over Raunds – the aggregate score 7-0.
Raunds never got into this game, and David Green kept the Cooks from scoring early on with a clearance off the line. Further on the half Chris Jones made an impressive double save, then came off the victor after a one on one with an attacking blue shirt.
The first goal came five minutes before the break when Carl Homes finally managed to beat keeper Chris Jones and slot the ball into the back of the net, the left defenders looking on. The only real chance for Raunds in the first half came courtesy of Danny Frid, who should have done more with his free header in the penalty area.
On the stroke of half time David Coales blocked an attempt at goal, and Raunds left the field by far the weaker of the two side. The second half was worse, with Cogenhoe piling on the pressure. Substitutions on the hour mark made very little difference aside from an Ellio Salerno shot.
After this point of the game the only real talking point was of the weather and the state of the pitch. Serious torrential downpours had made the pitch unplayable, running and passing being impossible for all players. More long airborne balls, and long shots were therefore the order of the later stages of the game, and despite fantastic efforts by Chris Jones, there were only so many that could be kept out of the net.
Raunds got what they deserved from this game, absolutely nothing, yet the unplayable conditions should have lead to an abandonment of the game, and a replay, as occurred at nearby St Neots, St Ives, and Long Buckby (with Desborough and Buckingham postponing before play commenced). Final score: Raunds 0-3 Cogenhoe.
Key Players: Chris Jones and Ellio Salerno
Raunds Town: Chris Jones, Dane Ridgway, Jamie Russell, David Green, David Coales, Ash Smith, Callum Ridgway, Danny Frid (Adam Bridgeford), Matt Curtis (Adam Taylor), Daniel Thompson, Ellio Salerno (Ian Symington).
