The alleged sum quoted came from players within the squad but you know how some boys inflate, that said some of the boys are commonly quoted as clearing £200 / wk and with a squad of 15 - 20 and a management team it does not take long to head North of a couple of grand, just glad I dont have the headache of trying to find that kind of many for any club

Our friend with the inflated figures for WTFC is actually not far out - a month that is!!
I do not usually get sucked into answering some of the rubbish that is expressed on here regarding the Doughboys. However, rumouring that we pay £2,500 a WEEK on players is complete and utter nonsense.
Woodford were paying around £1,200 a week last season and we are WELL below that figure. Indeed, I know for a fact that there is at least one other UCL Prem club paying more per week than we are and even one in Division One is on a similar budget - and it doesn`t take a genious to work out who that is!!
I have been with a few clubs as a player, coach and manager and can tell you in all truth that WTFC is one of the best run on and off the field that I have been involved with.
ALL monies are raised through gates, sponsorship, advertising etc., and not one person is putting his hand in his pocket - apart from a few of us who have clubbed together to purchase a new toilet block and sponsors` lounge which we need to go up.
I have never known a more hard-working or dedicated bunch of people as those involved at the Dog & Duck and, just to clear up another point raised in another debate, WTFC WOULD only need to finish in the top three to gain promotion - that is because of the newly-formed UniBond division for next season. However, if there are sufficient clubs to fill the vacancies elsewhere finishing as champions, then teams finishing second or third would not be considered - although that is highly unlikely to happen.
I hope this clears up one or two points raised. From my experience of the UCL (including my playing days in it back in the 70s and 80s!), the league would miss WTFC if and when we gain promotion as there are no others who take so many fans to away games, adding to visiting clubs` coffers through the bar, gate and programme sales.

SO THERE !!!! ..........ROFLMAO How does the saying go? " Methinks the lady doth protest too much" was it? Also it doesn't take a genious (sic) to spell "genius".

In comparison of the two leagues the UCL and NCEL i expected the NCEL to be a slightly higher standard but now I've played in it there doesn't seen to be a big difference. The standard of football being similar with players coming down the leagues and Young players emerging. I think a strong league at this level is the midland alliance they have over the last few years produced a few teams doing well in both FA competitions
I currently play for Arnold town who are about to build a new ground so have a small budget. But i would say that the level of money in the two leagues is comparable. Sutton Town being the exception nr Mansfield as they are alleged team paying out 2k a week and are only mid table showing money doesn't always buy success. Facilities and match officials are similar with some being good and some poor. I think overall though attendances do seem to be higher we expect to get over 100 each week
I Have to agree with yorkshireman and as a former Bourne town and deeping rangers player both managers are doing excellent jobs with the budgets they have. Deeping have got a good budget or so i hear but nothing crazy and they stretch it along way. I shall be cheering both teams on on Wednesday!!

I do not usually get sucked into answering some of the rubbish that is expressed on here regarding the Doughboys. You are welcome on here anytime Steve. The thing with being perceived as the biggest club in the league is everyone is out to get you. But I am sure I speak for most people on my forum when I say its not personal...

Personal??? I don,t Know mate. Its seems there is a lot of resentment about wellingborough Town, for whatever reason, a lot of the topics on the forum seem to be Wellingborogh Town this Wellingborough Town That, I love the club and don,t hide the fact how much i love the club, but it seems to me what i,ve seen that at the end of the day there,s more people on this forum who want wellinborough To fall flat on their Idiot. I love this forum and its one of the best around and your entitled to your opinion, but why so much nuts for wellingborough. I try to be honest in my opinions on all teams we play against, and a lot of teams have given us at wellingborough the run around, but whatever we do its seems to me "lets all have a go at wellingborough.
I have a lot of respect for the forum users on this forum and lets here all your views on why you want Wellingborough to fall flat on their Arses.

Oh come on, dont be naive, its human nature Build something up, then knock it down. its like Chelsea, Man United or Arsenal saying why do everyone hate us? part of it is jealousy, part of it is dislike for the arrogant manner people perceive. it would be worse if you were running away with the league. We have encountered the same attitude a couple of times at Sleaford. (though not as much this season ) For Example if you thank someone for the game after youve just beaten them.......... some would say thanks, some would say you were gloating. but dont say i wonder why, everyones having a pop?

haydn, can understand your loyalty, but which ever way you look at it w,boro 2004 have only playing in ucl for 2 years, the resentment comes from within ucl at how wtfc regained their status and has upset established clubs whose company is not deemed worthy at times, now I'm not saying this is the right way to go about things but you do put yourselves up to be a target at time's and this can only motivate teams to put one "over". if sorry when you get promoted which keeps coming from the club,is a little disrespectful to teams you haven't played yet and again teams will play above themselves to beat you, now if your a target for all clubs you better get used to it, as it will continue for quite a while yet. i have to say that i have seen boro, play and at time's play good attractive football and others which have been not so good, if boro do progress their are clubs who will not be sorry to see them gone, but beware a backlash when they come back!

I agree with skip and nextseason - it's the arrogant attitude of a minority that tars everybody associated with your club, and sadly people like yourself Haydn, who are consistently reasonable and generally a good advert for your club and the UCL.
This same arrogance, which seems to be built on very little substance in the case of some individuals, coupled with an apparent assumption that Wellingborough will simply triumph as the anointed ones and the rest of the UCL will simply fall into an orderly, homage-paying line, tends to breed a reaction of "Oh yeah? We'll see about THAT then...." in a lot of people.
Don't forget, Wellingborough Town were giving it the Billy Big Biscuits last season, but they didn't win the league. And as someone has pointed out, if the wheels DO come off the Wellingborough bus, there won't be many sympathisers as you plummet back down to almost certain liquidation once more.
A different attitude may have engendered a well-wishing "go and do the UCL proud" kind of feeling. Sadly, the current stewardship has simply got most people looking forward to seeing the back of them.
