i was thinking the other day about promising young players i saw a few years ago in the ucl and what they are doing now. i moved away to london 2 years ago and have lost touch with local football. david stone of daventry was one who stood out as having raw potential as well as jerry moss at spencer. there was michael frew at yaxley who looked capable of going higher. i also remember seeing a very young left sided pairing whos names escape me at desborough town who looked very bright a few years back. can anyone shed any light who or where any of the above players are now?

Desborough chap was Ben greasley and impressed Barry Fry during a Peterborough visit in the Northants Senior Cup. No idea of his wherabouts.
Michael frew was last at Kings Lynn I believe, but Jimmy will know for definite with his yaxley background I'm sure.

Frewie went to Nuneaton (where he got on against Middlesborough in the FA Cup), then Hucknall on loan before getting a move back to this area at Kings Lynn.
I spoke to him a little while back and it was incredible to hear how much affection he still holds the Cuckoos in. A truly great player (although I can understand why fans of other clubs didnt like him!!!) and a player who deserves another crack at league football one day if he keeps working hard.

.... david stone of daventry was one who stood out as having raw potential as well as jerry moss at spencer. ..... David had been with Spencer U18s but moved to Dav Town via ON Chenecks (I think). Didn't appear to do an awful lot at Daventry, but then moved to Rugby Town where he is getting a lot of goals. Jerry Moss graduated from Spencer U18s to the first team, but that was the Spencer under Bob Tansley, who were perennial strugglers, and halfway through the 2004/05 season, along with a couple of others, became somewhat disenchanted and moved to Ford Sports. Six months later, with Steve Jelley at the helm, Jerry was one of the players pleased to return and was a regular member of last season's Spencer team. In the summer of 2006 he and a couple of friends went travelling, and he is currently enjoying an idyllic lifestyle in Australia.

Knowitall you dont thats for sure Dave Stone did very well at Daventry Town scored 16 goals in thirty two games in a side that got relegated and was spotted by Rugby Town played out of his skin and won both players player and the player of the year awards and was encouraged by both Steve Kirchin and Simon Morrice to go to the higher level and has now settled in to Rugby Town

thanks for the catch up. glad to see those players moving on and doing well, michael frew in particular. i googled ben greasley (thanks for the name gav) as no one knew where he is and he appears to be at lincoln university playing for their 1st team as a central midfielder. doesn't seem to play club football but 1 appearance for roth corinths at start of year.
