Wellingborough Town, re-formed originally as an under-18 side playing in the Northants Senior Youth League, have ditched the side from the competition for 2011/12!
I find this an amazing decision, especially for a club that is always hailing itself as `community-orientated`.
Apart from the lads now left without a team to play for next season (although no doubt they will be snapped up by someone), it is the players, coaches and parents of the junior teams I feel sorry for as there is no `end` product for them to aim for now.
This decision is a real backward step.

No doubt they will issue a statement....not!!
WTFC seem to operate as a branch of the Masons normally.

Very disappointed. Yes money may be short, but a club must build from the bottom up and a youth team providing young players to the reserves and then to the first team must be the way forward.

Think this could be the least of their worries. I have it on good aouthority that Mr Ozdagan, who still owns the d&d has been tempted by the smell of developer's cash and is threatening to dismiss the football club completely.

Considering how badly it floods I would be very surprised if anything was allowed to be built on there. It doesn't surprise me however that he would try to sell it to developers.
The man has always banged on about how he supports WTFC.
Yeah right he does...................

Not quite sure how you can say 'money may be short' as you had one of the largest budgets in the prem last season. Maybe burger monster can enlighten us? Has last season's overspend killed the youth set up?

Has last season's overspend killed the youth set up? Firstly I've no association with WTFC bar living there and secondly I'm sure there were several clubs with much larger budgets than WTFC.

I understand a sponsor was willing to fund the under-18s next season, so I doubt if budgets etc, have anything to do with the decision.

I was once involved with the under 18's at wellingborough town and am highly dissapointed that the so called high profile club in the town has taken away football from local up and coming lads, although not many wellingborough lads plaayed. I am also aware that the under 16's are also folding. Whats happening?
