I,m back up and running guys. I seemed to be more worried what others were thinking instead of writing what I really wanted to right.
Really delighted with our result tonight. Tremendous team effort once again.
We scored within the first two mins again with a super finish once again from Jason Turner.
Cogenhoe really pressed us during the first half and had a spell of about 25 mins during the first half, where they had all of the ball. They were very quick going forward and tested Shaun Markie with a number of good shots, but once again Shaun was in top form.
Our defence work really hard stopping Cogenhoe with last ditch tackles, putting the bodies on the line.
It was one of the super back four which scored the second. Dan Spaughton rising like a salmon (lol) with a super header to make it 2-0 at half time.
I felt we gained more possession second half, although Cogenhoe still did press forward when they could second half.
We made the game safe late on with a super cool finish from Chris Defante. He received the ball on the edge of the 18 yard box, had a lovely first touch, beat the defender and cooly slotted past the cogenhoe keeper.
Cogenhoe worked extremely hard all game, but just couldn,t break us down, which from our point of view is very pleasing to see. Our lads effort was outstanding, everyone gave 100% for the team.
Cogenhoe pitch looked outstanding as usual. Hospitality from all the staff at Cogenhoe first class as it always is. Would like to thank all the staff at Cogenhoe for making everyone at Wellingborough very welcome.
The reaction from our boys since the loss at Corinths in the fa cup has been top draw. We had to take that on the chin and i will admit that hurt like hell that defeat, but since that the lads have erased that game from the memory bank, and stepped up to the plate and earnt two great hard fought wins.
Really proud of all their efforts. For me their a fantastic group of lads who want to do well for Wellingborough Town.
