This was the game the Chronicle said we had no chance in, the Dav Weekly gave us no chance. Underdogs was an understatement according to those in the know. And in our own minds if we were to cause an upset we would have to play beyond our means. It turned out to be the perfect day. For twenty minutes we were the better side then two sloppy goals and everyone thought here we go, not so Utd battled to drag themselves back into the game and by the interval were level. Coming out for the second half we again looked comfortable and on top then we took the lead. How dare we the Daventry Scum as we were known for the day by the ever pleasant Coalville faithful(I did notice that quite a few of them entered at halftime"good to see them supporting their local side).then we went down to ten men, lorraine sent off for two dubious bookings. Seconds earlier Coalville scrambled away an effort from Edwards which was on the line. Minutes after the sending off the ref gifted Coalville a penalty with ten minutes remaining. 3 3 and ten minutes to go,then the ref evened things up with a straight Red to Coalvilles substitue for an incident whilst retrieving the ball from the spot kick.
3 3 and ten men a piece this is what the FA Cup is all about then in the 90th minute the referee signals three minutes of injury time and Tommy Waldock mugs the Coalville back line and pokes home the winner. The celebrations at the final whistle showed what this meant to United and although some of our players were subject to personal insults from the opposition fans they couldn't take this one away from us. And we did it playing our normal game there was no major heroics just honest hard graft to beat last years FA Vase runners up. Finally I will say that the players and committee at Coalville were far better losers than their so called fans.
