I know, I know, they're not here anymore but I think it warrants a mention and not only in what appears to me my main role in my "insipid little life", according to some, but the announcement below from St Neots really made me laugh. How the hell can "BIG" Clubs like St Neots and "nearly" Kings Lynn not be able to "support" a Reserve side? Beggars belief. ;D ;D From the St Neots Official Website:
It is with regret that St Neots Town FC is no longer in a position to support a Reserve Team within the current football structure at the Club and as such is withdrawing the Reserves from the Peterborough Football league with immediate effect.

In reply to your posting you insipid little man, don't really mean that bit Kevin but i just like writing it,i did reply to a post on the St Neots forum by telling them they could get in touch with our reserve management team for any advice they can give.No matter what size club i don't think they should run without a reserve side, with all that comps we play in you need a bigger squad to call on,reserves seem like a squad extension to me.

The thing is Grizzles like a lot of clubs we all know St Neots run/ran 2 different sides. There was no cohesion between the first team and reserves, if Dennis want's a player for a particular position, he doesnt look in the Reserves he goes out and get's one from somewhere. I dont think this is a financial decision at all, I just think they found the Reserve side served no purpose, cos they werent using any players from there to fill gaps in the first team when they appeared, IMHO

I personally think you might be near the truth with that post Hillgrounder. Dont think finances are anything to do with it.

If we are being beaten 5-0 by teams 3 steps below the first team how would these players help a team trying to get out of step 4.

I think it's more to do with the league not being the cakewalk they expected, therefore not being the easy route to competitive, Step 6 football.

If you don't have the players its not a cakewalk,I don't believe we folded as we cannot win the league its more to do with its not supporting the first team. so it needs to be re addressed.

How can it be addressed to support the first team?
It will be too big a step from whatever division the reserves are in to the first team. I think that's half the reason Stamford don't have a reseve side.

Have to admit Eynesbury Rovers will now be in a strong position to gain promotion from Division 1 as many St Neots Town Reserves players will now make the short trip across town to join them. This can only be a huge boost to Eynesbury.

But it will be a kick in the teeth for the Eynesbury players though if they do.

Or will it be a case that St Neots hold on to the reserves registrations, therefore they will be dual registered and can be called back at any time?
